My device had no problems until a few days ago. Suddenly, the image started to get stuck while entering the game. It is understood from the sound that the game is running in the background. I did not understand the problem. I started to manually select and change it from the Nvidia control panel. There was no problem until yesterday, but this time the problem started to occur in the control panel as well. I select the Only Nvidia GPU option, I get the hardware change sound once. The image on the screen freezes and then I get a second hardware change sound as if it was removed again and it stays like that. Then, when I undo the changes with the keyboard, the black screen remains. We tried with Nvidia support, changed the version, etc. None of them worked. They said there might be a BIOS update, I checked. There is a new update called 'Fixed system wake up issue from modern standby if the NVIDIA GPU Only display mode set'. I updated the BIOS, I was hopeful that it would be solved, but I just tried it and it doesn't work either. I have been dealing with this for 2 days and I am very tired. What should I do, what could be the problem?

Use DDU Uninstaller in Safe Mode to uninstall your current GPU driver. Then, download and install the Game Ready Driver from NVIDIA's official website, ensuring compatibility with your laptop's GPU. So, make sure to download game ready driver for your laptop gpu

This advanced optimus thing provides a smooth transition. The problem is that when Nvidia switches to GPU, it kind of disconnects from the screen. Either the image gets stuck or it stays on a black screen. The game and the card are running in the background.

Apologies for being a bit reckless earlier and not fully understanding your issue, likely because I read your post in a hurry. The issue you're experiencing is related to improper GPU power management. This problem is widespread and tied to the inherent design limitations of Advanced Optimus, driver compatibility issues, and manufacturer-specific implementations.

However, Acer has already addressed this issue in a BIOS update (version 1.25) available for your laptop. Updating your BIOS should resolve the problem, but please proceed with caution while performing the update. Below are the instructions for updating your BIOS:

No problem, thanks for your help. Yes, this seems to be an update that fixes the problem. I updated the BIOS. The bad thing is that it didn't change anything, the problem persists. I don't know. Is there anything else you can suggest?

Open Nitrosense Force the laptop to use either the iGPU or dGPU exclusively. If this doesn't work then

    • Downgrade to NVIDIA Driver Version 565.90 (WHQL): This version has been reported to fix freezing issues when switching between integrated and discrete GPUs on laptops with Advanced Optimus. You can download it from NVIDIA's official website or through the GeForce Experience application.

Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Safe Mode to remove all existing GPU drivers then install nvidia 565.90 version.

Or you can also try checking latest studio driver as well.

if above methods still doesn't work then use ddu again and install nvidia VGA driver from support page for your laptop

If your Acer AN16-41 laptop, with only an Nvidia GPU, experiences image freezing while entering games, try updating your BIOS, Windows, and Nvidia drivers, ensuring you're using the latest versions. Also, consider using GeForce Experience to optimize game settings and ensure the laptop is running cool.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of potential solutions:-

    1. Update Software and Drivers:
BIOS: Check for the latest BIOS version (1.10 or higher) and install it.
Windows: Ensure you have the latest Windows 11 24H2 version and all updates installed.
Nvidia Drivers: Install the latest Nvidia graphics drivers and use GeForce Experience to manage game settings.
Firmware: Check for optional firmware updates through Windows Update.
WD M.2 SSD Firmware: Update the firmware for the WD M.2 SSD drive.
    2. Optimize Game Settings:
GeForce Experience: Use GeForce Experience to play games through its settings, which can optimize performance.
Check for Game-Specific Settings: Ensure your game settings are optimized for your hardware and monitor.
    3. Ensure Proper Cooling:
      Cooling Pad:
Use a good multi-fan gaming cooler for extra ventilation, especially when playing demanding games.
      Monitor for Overheating:
Keep an eye on your laptop's temperature and ensure it's not overheating, which can cause performance issues.
    4. Hardware Issues:
      RAM:
If you have 8GB of RAM, consider upgrading to 16GB or 32GB, as this can improve performance.
      Hard Reset:
If the issue persists, try a hard reset by opening the back cover, removing the battery, and disconnecting the RTC/BIOS battery.
      EC Chip:
A hard reset can also help if the EC chip is freezing, which can cause boot issues.
    5. Other Potential Issues:
      Fast Startup:
Temporarily disable the Fast Startup feature.
      Power Reset:
Try a power reset by unplugging the power adapter and holding the power button for 15 seconds.
      Windows Repair:
Run the System File Checker (SFC) command in the command prompt to repair Windows.
      Reset Windows:
If all else fails, consider resetting Windows, either while keeping your files or removing everything.
