My Acer Aspire 5 laptop won't play on my new JBL Flip 6 bluetooth speaker. It goes through the connection process and shows as connecting for "Audio" But then the "Bluetooth Operations" dialogue box shows that it isn't connected (in Audio Services) to use the remote speaker! When I click on the "Connect" button nothing happens then it goes back to being greyed out. The speaker connects to my PC, Phone and tablet without any issues and I'm more that pleased with the quality of the output. I just can't get it to connect to my laptop. Do you think there may be a conflict between the Acer Realtek Audio software and the Bluetooth driver? I've tried updating the bluetooth driver on my laptop but it says that the most up to date driver is currently installed.

Hope you can help.

Thanks

    Hi, update your BIOS version to 1.36 dated 2024/04/18 and uninstall the Bluetooth driver (MTK, Intel or Atheros) in Device Manager Bluetooth. Just reboot, Windows will install the best driver.

    Thanks Puraw, Updated the BIOS and uninstalled the Bluetooth driver and rebooted and it's just the same. It is showing as connected in the Bluetooth and other settings but when I click on the volume control on the taskbar it's the Realtek Audio Speakers that the sound is playing through. Should have said my laptop is still running W10.

    Some third-party antivirus can cause conflict I suggest you uninstall by following the steps:
    Go to Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl and click OK;
    Find the antivirus you are using in the list;
    Right-click on the program and choose the Uninstall option;
    Restart the computer.

    After that, try to see if the device works. If it still doesn't work, create a new user profile to test. This new profile is used to see if there is a problem with your current profile that may be causing conflict.
    To create a new profile:
    Go to Windows + X> Control Panel;
    Click on user accounts and family protection>
    Click on user accounts;
    Click manage another account;
    Finally click on Add a new user in your computer settings;
    Add the name for the new profile and add as an administrator
    Test whether the device worked or not in the new profile

    I hope this helps

    Thanks for this Axxo. I tried uninstalling my AV software and it didn't work! I have the same AV software on my desktop PC and phone and the JBL speaker works fine on them. So I have discounted a conflict there.

    I also setup a new profile and it didn't work with that either. Interestingly though, If I held my finger on the ON button long enough it eventually did show up on my SOUND Output settings as a device. The master volume oscillated as if it was playing the music but there was nothing coming out of the speaker! This was the same on the new profile and my old one. If I simply chose the alternative output device from the drop down ie the Realtek Speak it worked straight away.

    My gut feeling is that it is to do with the blue tooth driver, but I'm no expert. The speaker works fine on my desktop pc, my phone and my tablet. Frustratingly, it just doesn't work on my Acer Aspire laptop.

    Thanks for your input to date, it's appreciated. I'm willing to try anything else that you suggest.

    I have now tried connecting another bluetooth speaker a Rienock S1 Mini and it has exactly the same connection problems. The Rienock speaker also works perfectly well on my Desktop PC, phone and tablet. So accordingly I've deduced that it is definitely some setting on the laptop that needs to be rectified. As above both of the attached images show that both speakers connect and they look as if they are playing in the Sound Output section. It's just that there is no sound coming out of either of the two speakers!

    This is an enigma which remains unsolved. I had an Acer Tech respond with a $100 fee to connect the BT speaker. There should be some loyalty for customer service from Acer. In any case I have been able to connect my cell and desktop to my speaker. I also use a BT head set to my Nitro AN515-57.
