Hello,

I have recently bought my acer laptop AL15-41 and even after installing the Realtek sound drivers and other drivers which were part of the windows update, the sound is low (speakers volume set to 100%).

Can anyone please suggest me if there are any additional configurations to be done for the sound drivers?

Thank you for reading my query. Please help.

Regards,

Sumeet

This laptop requires a good quality headset or extremal speakers with a built-in equalizer/amplifier to get proper sound volume. The RTK drivers are working with Intel's Codec, and you should not manually install Realtek drivers but let Windows do the installing. Download DDU freeware from Wagnardsoft and in Safe Mode (Windows Shift+Restart) uninstall all Realtek drivers and just reboot: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091878/graphics.html

There is an equalizer in Windows Media Player (right click, in the context menu) and in Windows Sound settings enable Audio Enhancements

In the Realtek Audio Console select Movie instead of Music.

    Hello Puraw,

Thank you so much for your reply. Actually, I did not manually installed the drivers. In the windows security, it was showing list of device drivers which included realtek drives and windows cumulative patches and all got installed without any issues.

I have installed FX Sound Enhancer software and it has improvised the sound quality to some extent. I reckon what you mentioned makes sense that it requires a good quality headset or extremal speakers with a built-in equalizer/amplifier to get proper sound volume

May be some external Bluetooth based speakers will resolve this issue. Any other software/drivers that you can recommend to enhance the sound quality?

    Regards,

Hi @sumeetc1982 logically the volume of the internal speakers is limited but they should not be excessively low, for more security go to the control panel - troubleshooting and select the audio options.

Although you already know this I mention it anyway, make sure that all the volumes that intervene in the audio playback are at a high level, remember that there is a general volume and another particular volume of the application, in some cases the application itself can have a third level.

Have you tried the sound with various options such as the Windows player itself, Youtube, Spotify, etc.?
If you connect a headset is it equally low?

In any case the sound quality of the internal speakers is not adequate due to the narrow frequency range that these mini speakers handle, personally I use external BT speakers of the JBL brand and they have an extraordinary quality.

    Greetings.

    Hello @Alejandro_AC,

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, I have tried with different such as Windows Media Player, You Tube, Spotify and other such applications but the still the sound volume is low.

Yes, the point that you mentioned makes appropriate sense that due to narrow frequency range of these mini speakers, they are adequate enough to handle sound quality in a better manner.

I will go for other options like external speakers from JBL or some other manufacturer.

    Regards,

    Let us know.
I said JBL because I have two and they work very well, but obviously there are other brands.
I use Bluetooth but, if you are not going to move the speaker or use it for other purposes, you can opt for a USB-powered speaker connected directly to the audio output of the device or buy a BT one and have it permanently connected to the USB charging port, that's how I have it and have the alternative for other uses or when you take the device out on the street, here, a wired speaker is less practical.

    Greetings.

HI @KaushikMajumdar can you post a screenshot of that option? I don't know it, I only know of an option that reduces the volume but only when a phone call comes in, thanks.

Thanks! It doesn't appear for me, I guess that option depends on the drivers of the audio card itself:
