Brand new Acer 27" 2560x1440, 180Hz Nitro IPS XV271U M3 is extremely dull in all modes and settings
I just recently bought this new monitor to replace a 27" Acer Nitro VG1 LED that suffered a crack in the display during a move. The new monitor is very very dull in color depth and the brightness is dismal. I know that IPS panels are dimmer by nature but I have a second display that is an Acer IPS SB220Q (a $90 monitor) sitting directly next to the brand new one and it is brighter and has better color in every single way.
I've spent hours trouble shooting reading forums and watching videos and I am at a loss.
What I've tried so far:
- Tried 2 different power cables, 2 different display port cables, 2 HDMI cables, and a entirely separate PC (I tried every cable that came with the monitor itself before trying the cables I already had)
- I tried turning HDR in the windows display settings on and off (the display is even more dull and almost resembles greyscale with it on)
- Tried all the specific modes built into the monitor itself (HDR setting seems to look the best but still terribly dull)
- Turned up the built in brightness on the monitor (specs say it will display over 400 NITS but is maybe displaying 80 at most, my 230 NIT monitor set at 75% is blowing it out of the water)
- Tried disabling the device and uninstalling the device from the computer
- Made sure me GeForce Drivers were up to date
- Went into the Nvidia Control Panel and tested the monitor on Limited color range and Full color range
- Did the windows HDR Calibration test (just slightly tweeking dull into higher contrast dull)
- Ran dxdiag.exe to double checked that HDR was supported in the DirectX Diag Tool
In the Display information it says that my displays HDR certification is "Not Found" hence why I ran the dxdiag to double check. Weird but I don't think that's causing the issue as windows lets me enable HDR regardless even though it makes it look worse.
At this point I feel as though I've exhausted every option but I know there is no possible way this monitor is supposed to look like this. If there is something I haven't tried please comment because I'll be returning this display and going back to the LED display with a crack across it if I can't find a solution.
