Don't use the optimizer (step 2) unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Also, if your graphics drivers work, don't bother updating because not only will all your games now need to build the shades all over again (ever noticed that your game lags like hell for a while afterupdating drivers?, but new drivers can make older cards even worse.

O&O Shutup10 is a great tool. And I have used optimizer, but it wasn't that great either.

Also also, don't delete temporary files every 2 minutes, not only will it wear out SSDs a bit quicker, but it will often slow your computer down because of having to retrieve those files again instead of already having them.

I'm not a big fan of stopping windows services ,I think games should go smooth with default windows services enabled. Anyway I have Killer WiFI and Killer Suite cand stop any service you want in gaming…but I never used it.

Instead I fine tuned my system to have lower temps , lower power comsumption , smooth experince in gaming , even if I will loose abit of FPS.

    1. Undervolt GTX 4060 with MSI Afterburner…. 2250 MHz but at 0.825V , TGP of graphics card goes around 70W instread of 115W default
    2. I have I7 13700H , disabled that 8 E-cores in BIOS and go with only 6P/12 threads .In fact I have more FPS in games with E-cores diabled.
    3. Manually set CPU PL1/PL2 to 65/85 W instead of 100/115W in Performance mode . I have all cores boost 4.5 Ghz no matter how I stress the CPU and for how long ,at around 80W power.

In games my temps are under 70 degrees for both CPU and GPU in Performance mode, but fans are a bit louder.

    System is Acer Nitro 17 AN17-51 (I7 13700H + RTX 4060 + 16 Gb DDR5 4800 Mhz)

Additionally, you guys can make a test drive with DXVK, Async mode. Use in your DirectX 9-11 games, and translate their API to Vulkan. It cam be good to your performance and stability…

The guide was helpful for me for the most part.

However, I own a Predator Helios Neo 16 PHN16-71 (2023 Model) and it's temps are normal only in the turbo mode while playing games which force the fans to be very loud.

The laptop is 11+ months old now and I have not repasted or cleaned it since purchase.

I suspect there is some issue with the new predator sense app which throttles fan speed a lot in the performance mode. Do you have any input on this.

BTW it's a pretty great post and I followed most of the steps except few in between so thanks for your efforts.

I can provide proper steps one by one to clean your laptop fans, air vents and apply new thermal paste is best way.

IF you clean your laptop in my way, You will surely get much better temperature.

So, do you think you can do it ?

Hey @GAMING6698, sorry for going offline for so long now but it seems like I need your help now. I opened up my laptop today to clean it since it's absolutely filthy but could not manage to remove the heatsink and the fans. I can't figure out the position of the fan connectors even from the manuals and there is a weird screw connected with the heatsink just above the SSD which I probably might have stripped somehow. Do you need a picture of the internals?

It's a Predator Helios Neo 16 PHN16-71-553K (2023 Model) which has the model code: NHQLTSI0013.

  • To access the heatsink and fans in your Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-71-553K), you typically need to remove a series of screws. The process involves undoing 11 Phillips head screws and carefully prying off the bottom panel with a plastic tool. For the fan connectors, they are usually located near the motherboard, but the exact positioning can vary. If you have a stripped screw, consider using a screw extractor tool to remove it.

Check youtube video on dissembling or repasting your specific model.

Do thermal pasting and cleaning in a way I suggested in below post i shared-

That's the problem, there is only 1 teardown video on YT and that too is not for the removal of fans or heatsink. I can't figure out the fan position of the fan connectors and whether I have to remove the fan or the heatsink first. Below is a picture of the internals of my laptop.

The most important setting for games in Win 11 is processor power management.

My I7 13700H in full load the boost clocks are: P core 4.52 GHz , E core 3.19 Ghz

    With regedit go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00

Are all settings for processor power management.

Find next registry for energy preference E core and P core :

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\36687f9e-e3a5-4dbf-b1dc-15eb381c6863

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\36687f9e-e3a5-4dbf-b1dc-15eb381c6864

Change the Attributes from 1 to 2 , save registry

Now you have the option in Power Option → Change plan settings → Processor Power Management

For plugged in, change default P/E core from 45% to 40%

NOW FULL LOAD BOOST CLOCKS ARE: P core 4.7 GHz , E core 3.43 GHz , in fact in games CPU P core will stay at 4.7 Ghz instead default 4.5 Ghz, will give you a nice fps boost.

I7 13700H is power capped at 115 W and now can go to 138W . It make no sense to go lower than 40% because power cap. It make sense with HX CPUs that have a higher TDP.

Without modify registry you can do aproximatly the same thing using Performance Power Mode, but clocks will stay at maximum even on idle, with this settings on balanced mode clocks will go back in 1 Ghz range when you are idle or not doing too much work and boost at maximum when you game or do consistent load.

P.S I don't recomend to touch other setting in registry , you can brick your Win 11 and make a registry backup before any modification

Always take backup of default registry keys before editing.

Hi before I do any of this guide may I explain my issue? I am on second life a lot as I am housebound and it is my social life. Since January my Acer nitro 5 515-58 has been freezing and disconnecting me. It’s frustrating especially since my old Erazer laptop still plays faultlessly but not as good graphically obviously.
I have had the second life support techs decide it is my Acer at fault. Any ideas ?
