Is SF314-54G incompatible with the newest Intel Graphic Card driver?

hi,

For some reason I upgraded my intel graphic card driver, and I found the display control panel disappered and was replaced with an app called "Intel Graphic Control Center" from microsoft store by the driver. When I open this app and tried to tweak settings of my monitor, the app crashed. I also tried restoring the driver to the previous old 2018 version which made the display control panel came back, the app got crashed either, which means this app dosen't work for me whatever version of driver was installed.

I've contacted Intel about this crash, and they replied:

this is specific to your laptop and that your laptop manufacturer has modified the platform or added customized settings or made other changes to the software or hardware package they provide. We recommend that you contact your laptop manufacturer to confirm whether they will release a new version of the adapted graphics driver for that particular laptop.

Is that so? The graphic card driver published on the Acer support site of my SF314-54G is only the old 2018 version. Did acer make some changes so that newer version driver utilising the control center app is incompatible?

All appropriate and specific Acer graphics drivers specific to your Swift SF314-54G laptop is on the Acer support page which gets appropriately updated by Windows Update to newer versions. You should NOT update any graphics driver from Intel direct for any new updates versions as they are not specific to your Swift laptop.

That app that you downloaded together with the intel driver, is probably integrated with the Intel driver version that you downloaded from Intel (irrespective of what Intel says) which is probably NOT the recommended Acer Intel driver for your Swift laptop graphics. Some of the latest's directly downloaded and installed Intel graphics drivers can cause BSODs and your laptop to crash, so be aware of this phenomenon too, as you could lose data. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Note that Intel warns users with their new and latest graphics drivers with the following:

No, sorry, the "which gets appropriately updated by Windows Update to newer versions" one may be not right for me. The driver I used at the very beginning was the pretty old one from the Acer support, and when I just checked the windows update it was replaced by a erroneous 2020 version driver installed by the Windows Update SPONTANEOUSLY, and i dont know it's from OEM or Intel.  Downloading the Intel driver from Intel was the advice proposed by Intel, after I found neither the display panel (disappeared) nor the control center (crashing) was working and asked them for help.

Furthermore, why is the publish date of the driver on the support page as long as the laptop comes out and never makes any update? Shall I beg for a new version OEM driver right here?
