Please help me…

Within just a few days of getting this gaming laptop, I've encountered screen flickering issues. I tried solving it first by uninstalling drivers, updating them, changing the screen refresh rate, etc. but the issue still persisted.

So, I took it to the main service center in my country and they replaced the LCD. However, just within a few days of using it, I'm encountering the same issue again..I thought it was weird because they "repaired" and when they had it tested, there were no issues..This flickering happens spontaneously too.

I don't want to wait for another month to have it diagnosed and fixed again as much as possible..This seems to be a very common problem for this laptop..

I have attached a link to a video of the issue for reference. You can see how the text just "shakes" and images too..

edit: if needed, I could provide more videos!

    I have the same problem!
But I noticed that the problem occurs when browsing on Firefox

I searched for many solutions and updated the BIOS, but the problem still appears

How can the problem be referred to Acer technical support?
It is a common problem for this laptop, and they need to solve the problem as soon as possible

Download and reinstall the oem Acer Intel VGA drive version 31.0.101.4146 for the Predator PHN16-71 laptop, and clean install this driver as this should fix your screen flickering up completely, its not a hardware problem, refresher rate problem, resolution problem its the new Intel drivers that are incompatible with the PHN16-71 laptop that is causing the screen flickering. It happened to my Nitro newish laptop and doing a clean install of the Acer oem Intel VGA drive for my Nitro looptop fixed the flickering problem completely. Good luck and hope this helps you out👍

Download the Intel graphics oem for the PHN16-71 from the link I've given you above, as its from the Acer support page of the PHN16-71, afterwards, click on the Installer application file>Begin installation> then go through the installation as it will ask you to do a clean install where it uninstalls all the previous Intel graphics drivers off your system then install this driver version 31.0.101.4146 and let windows update install a new driver whenever there is a newer driver for your laptop, as that is all that you have to do.

This is it! This is the answer. For me as well, this only happens on Firefox.

And I finally found the solution that works for me (permanently):

    1. settings > general > performance
    2. Untick use recommended performance settings
    3. Enable hardware acceleration. That's it!

    I hope this helps!

I had the same situation, seems this laptop has problems running at 165hz, so I adjusted it to 120 hz but I still had the problem in full screen video, nevertheless, windows 11 doesn't let you change the active screen fresh rate.

So I found this video to set the screen fresh rate of the active screen and it worked! :)

I thought it wasn't a browser issue because it caused my entire screen to flicker, not just the browser.

But ever since I switched to a different browser, the problem has stopped occurring! Firefox really is the problem. I am saddened that I had to switch browsers because I liked Firefox a lot..but this should definitely be a problem worth nothing, especially that I have seen others as well claiming Firefox is the problem!

I already noted I tried almost every possible solution there was, including this one. It did not help. I didn't buy this laptop just for me to lower the refresh rate..

Thank you for your help though, I have ruled out Firefox as the problem!

Same is happening with my Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 with Intel Core i5 13500HX and NVIDIA RTX 4050, but the interesting part is that it only happens when the laptop is directly powered with the NVIDIA GPU, and the flickering does not occur when you're on optimus or when you're running with the Intel's UHD Graphics. There is one thing I observed in the Drivers section for my Laptop's Model, that is the latest BIOS version (1.16v) actually states that "Optimizes settings for NVIDIA GPU", which might be the reason for the screen flickering, and to make sure it is the latest BIOS version, I have to downgrade my BIOS to 1.15v or lower, but I'm not sure how do I achieve it, if you got any ideas, please do let me know.

i think it has something to do with the “hardware acceleration” on firefox settings.

Hey, thanks for this! Do you have any proper tutorials on how to do this? I don't want to accidentally mess up the process, I'm no tech professional haha. I was wondering if this would interfere with anything in the future

There may be several reasons for your laptop screen flickering:-

Loose or damaged cable connection: A faulty cable connecting the screen to the motherboard may cause flickering.

Outdated or incompatible drivers: If your computer’s display drivers are outdated or incompatible, it may lead to screen flickering issues.

Faulty screen or hardware: A faulty screen or internal hardware component can also cause flickering.

Overheating: Overheating the laptop can cause the screen flickering issue.

Software issues: Some software or apps may cause some problems, leading to screen flickering.

Incorrect refresh rate: An incorrect refresh rate setting may also result in a flickering screen issue.
You can start by checking your HDMI, Display-Port, or USB-C cables. Ensure that the cables are securely connected to both the monitor and the laptop. Make sure that the cable is fully tightened and it doesn’t look
or feel loose. This applies to all cable types, which can become loose for various reasons. Plug in your system to an external monitor to check if the issue reoccurs.

If the problem does not occur on the external
display, it may be due to a hardware issue with the laptop’s screen.

Next is to make sure that the graphic card driver is update. Outdated drivers may cause incompatibility, leading to screen flickering problems. Regularly updating drivers ensures optimal performance and a
    flicker-free experience.

Also to note overheating can cause hardware issues so, routinely check your laptop’s temperature to
ensure it is not overheating. Make sure you clean any dust or debris from the vents and fans to improve airflow.
