I have a AN515-54 it's has some year in, but I never knew how to cool the CPU. Eveytime I game or sometimes opening something that demanded CPU it just goes overboard and the fan just boost. I have solved the issue by going into de battery settings and putting 99% into the CPU. But with this I get low fps on games and the performances it not that great. I was wondering is there any other way to have a lower CPU temp, but keep a good performance.

    YourYour laptop still under warranty? Need to replace thermal paste and clean fans and air vents or you can do it by Yourself too more nicely why following my steps. (In rare cases It can be accepted in hot weather season since things use to heat alot)

    If you have never changed the thermal paste for the cpu or gpu and the thermal pads of your laptops thermal module, then and after 5 or even 4 years when this laptop was first released and/or you bought your laptop, that is a very long time to allow the original Acer cpu/gpu and thermal pads to be inside the laptop, as they lose their ability to be affective in dissipating the tremendous heat that the cpu/gpu and vram chips dissipate and you need to change the paste asap as that is a reason why your laptop is overheating, as this needs to be done at least once every 12 months.

    Also you need to make sure that you have the last bios version 1.33 and all the windows OS updated to its latest updates and the latest Nvidia Game Ready Driver and play all your games through the Nvidia GeForce Experience software, as this software has over 1800 ultimate settings for the most popular games on the market and sets the gpu to operate ultimately with the games that you play, as you don’t need to reduce “going into de battery settings and putting 99% into the CPU”, reset that to its oem. Do all the above and let us know how your AN515045 operates in games. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

    I have recently changed the thermal pads and paste on the pc like 4-5 months ago. I did everything correctly and I even changed the fans. The problem is still undergoing. I updated everything up to date even the bios to version 1.33. The problem is that CPU goes in to turbo mode even if i'm no doing anything and the CPU fan starts working.

    If I had to put or change any thermal pads can you suggest which ones to apply because there are different kinds of thickness. I would gladly buy some and do everything again.

    Thanks!

    Use the Thermal Grizzly range of paste and thermal pads as they are the best that I've found out over the years as they are a premium gaming high quality product that dissipate heat perfectly off the cpu/gpu and VRAM chips and is what allot of top techs use for gaming laptops and gaming desktops.

    This is the Thermal Grizzly products I've used on my Nitro 5 AN515-56 gaming laptop with an i7-11370H cpu/RTX3050 gou/32GB DDR4-3200MHz CL22 ram, they are the Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal for the CPU while for the GPU you should apply the Kryonaut Extreme is a high performance paste and for the VRAM chips apply their Minus Pad Extreme which come in two sizes of 120x20mm and 100x100mm @ thicknesses of 0.5.1.0.1.5,2.0 and 3.0mm, so with the pads I bought the 0.5 and 1.0mm thicknesses as it was adequate to pack the VRAM chips so the pads make contact with the thermal module which is the purpose of the thermal pads.

    Note: be very careful with liquid metal paste as its a conductive paste and it can destroy CPUs and mainboards if you apply too much and not to how Thermal Grizzly instructs you to apply this paste! As if it spills onto the mainboard circuitries and especially underneath CPU or the GPU as it will short the mainboard circuitries and make it unfunctional, so only apply liquid metal as per guide. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

    For your information I'm including this Acer Liquid Metal Paste Application Guide that Acer applies to their Predator Helios and Triton gaming laptops that is in their Service Guides and this is that guide for your information, but also follow the Thermal Grizzly guide specifically if you buy their liquid paste.

    @IanFell

    I have the same AN515-54 and changed the thermal paste for 7 months. The temperatures are still great with no overheating and throttling.

    I used PTM7950 for both GPU and CPU. For VRAMs, I used UPSIREN UTP-8 thermal putty. GPU temp: ~71C

    CPU temp: ~85C

    Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
    Thank you and have a nice day!
