    I received an email back from Acer proof of purchase. They are asking for the email you normally get immediately after purchasing something online. I have no problem giving it to them if I could only get to it. If any of you that uses yahoo mail it’s only letting me go back approximately 3 months and I’m needing to go back to Jan 22. I’ve googled and tried things pretty much all night and haven’t gotten anywhere.

    Did you check the Yahoo archive, spam & trash folders? Do you have a paper proof of purchase?

    Yahoo mail is only letting me go back 3 months. Yes I did check all other folders. I purchased it from an individual new in original box on eBay so all I could do was copy all transactions that is still on my purchases file on eBay. Acer is wanting the email that eBay sends you thanking you for your purchase immediately after you pay for the item.

    Yes I had everything. I sent Acer everything they requested and here’s the final decision. The Chromebook was sold the first time as open box Demo back in 2020. The guy on eBay sold it to me as New in box. The warranty ran out in 2021. eBay says it’s been to long for them to do anything such as the money back guarantee, even tho the seller had listed the item as new in box. So we know it’s not a software issue. Does anyone have other ideas ?

    From your description, this was (1) a private sale (2) the seller, not you, registered it to himself as a new demo he bought from an authorized dealer with a standard one-year starting in 2020 (3) it was deceptively advertised on eBay as new in box by the seller but effectively pre-owned & sold as-is without warranty.

    At this point, your only re-course seems to be small claims court against the seller. Or try a new battery for this model from Amazon ~$45. Either way, no 100% guarantees the issue will be resolved. Sorry.

    Yep I’ll just eat this one. If the seller can live with it I can live without it. I’m going to keep trying to fix it but also in the meantime I’m shopping for a new Chromebook just wondering what brand. Thanks for all your help and if you can think of anything else I can try through it at me.

    Common google influence on hardware development for most popular brands. So little or no difference between Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo . Shop price. Shop new. Buy from a bonafide vendor or concessionaire like Amazon, Walmart, Target with good NQA return merchandise authorization (RMA) policies. Good luck. 🙂
