my Nitro515-55-73HX is my laptop model which has 1660 Ti, 16GB RAM, i7 processor and was bought about a year ago.

I was gaming when I suddenly experienced frame drops and pretty soon, the screen went black. I couldn't turn it back on and even the LED lights weren't working. The LED light for charging didn't light up even though I had plugged my laptop in.

I removed the base lid and cleaned away the dust that had been collected with an earbud and that's pretty much it. What do I do next? I've seen some solutions to remove battery but this one has an internal battery that won't easily slide off.

So what am I supposed to do?

Unplug charger. Press and hold power button for about 30 seconds. Plug charger back in. But wait for battery charge LED to turn on first from blinking orange, then to steady orange, then to steady blue. This may take up to 24 hours.

I tried this but it didn't work for me. The battery adaptor doesn't get warm when charging, does it mean something

Did the battery charge LED ever light up or blink any color?

I didn't see the LED light up, but I was mostly away for the day. The battery adaptor wasn't warm from charging either. Anyways, I did show it to a centre and they told me it was an issue with the motherboard. But I'm not quite sure what really caused this issue in the first place

Do you have a multimeter to check the voltage output of the charger's plug?

The repair centre I visited checked it with a multimeter and they said they didn't find any issues with the charger.

probably the processor and mobo are overheating, clean the fans ASAP (go to any Acer service centers near you)

check also the power supply or use new compatible charger

    check the battery

your laptop needs general cleaning and maintenance

How many times before this have you experienced sudden frame drops or the machine shutting off?

Never shut off like this before but I did have frame drops but that was only when I used a different launcher for another game.

What else did they check? Did you get an evaluation and repair estimate?

I gave it for repair and they said they'd have to repair the motherboard which would cost about 35USD and then I called again and they told me the motherboard isn't actually repairable as it got short circuited and you'd have to replace it which would cost about 70USD but there's no guarantee how long it would last.

$70usd for the motherboard? Are you sure? That sounds more like the labor cost. The motherboards are usually a lot expensive?

That's all I was told the price was. This was in India, not the US btw, if that explains something

Shouldn't be that much difference in price. But if that's what they want to fix it, I'd quickly accept it before they change their price. Good luck! 🙂
