  • Hi,

This module will not work in your model, you need memory modules with JEDEC profile because there's no settings avilable to enable XMP in BIOS.

  • Yes, it should work, see:

However, twelfth processors only accept xmp 3.0 profiles. In this case, it would be in this case, to enable the xmp 3.0 profiles, it would be necessary to use a ddr5, which is not accepted by your motherboard. Now, if your computer came with eleventh generation processors, you will be able to enable xmp 2.0 profiles in the bios.

So it looks like it will work just without xmp profile enabled.I'm heading to Canada Computers to get a couple splitters for fans and will ask their system guys what they put in them when customers buy upgrades at purchase time. That's where it was purchased.I will post later with any updates to the situation.

I have also noticed ddr4/3600mhz ram for sale.Since xmp is not a priority, would 3600mhz ddr4 be an option as well?

your best option is to match what you have in there take one of the ram sticks with you is all i can say and try and get crucial it works great in our acer systems. or bring the whole tower in lol.

The person I bought the machine off took out the 3070 and the ddr4-3200 and replaced it with a gtx970 and ddr4-2400.I've already put a 1080ti in it,removed the hardrive caddy to let the front fan work and now just need to find the 'correct' ddr4-3200 to put in it.It works really well now but 3200mhz would be a good final touch, but apparently no one knows 'exactly' what ram will work in these things.I'll ask at Canada Computers tonight.

why did they do that lol isn't that a downgrade? well call acer or try and find pictures online maybe? mine came with Samsung memory and another i had Hynix memory. so maybe one of those. it shouldn't be that hard to figure out and i ended up doing the crucial system scanner when i added more their memory works great in acer desktops.

They bought the machine presumably when gpus were hard to find, people bought prebuilts and took out the good parts and sold the remains cheap......like mine.

I talked with the guys at Canada Computers and they told me if I brought the machine in they would stick any ddr4 I wanted to try in the system to make sure it registers at the correct speed free of charge.I'm going for two sticks of ddr4-3600 8gb,if they work I'll try 4 sticks.I going for the Kingston ram,it has the tightest timing and the guys told me it would work.So Monday I'll take it in,didn't have any spare time, was getting my motorcycle ready to rip.....

3600 should work, but at the 3200 speed of the motherboard. Only buy the faster memory if it's the same price or lower than the 3200 memory.

Below is the list of all the ram types that Acer lists for the PO3-640s SG for memory with either the i7-12700 or the i7-12700F cpu's that Acer fits oem to this desktop, these 12th Gen cpu's have a potential of working with the Intel specified Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) of 128GB at Memory Types of up to DDR5-4800 MT/s or up to DDR4-3200 MT/s which Acer has limited the PO3-640 desktop to.

Its a good idea to test if this desktop will work with DDR5-4400MHz like Acer is quoting for the PO5-640, so get back to us and tell us what Canada Computers find out and if the PO3-640 works with DDR5-4400 or higher speeds and what results they get in Task Manager ram speed, is it DDR4-3200MHz or DDR5-4400MHz or higher, it will be very interesting😁 ?

DDR5 memory will not physically fit into a DDR4 slot.

@billsey the Crucial compatibility tool recommends/says that we can install 4 x 32 GB of their 3200 sticks "Crucial Pro RAM 64GB Kit (2x32GB) DDR4 3200MT/s (or 3000MT/s or 2666MT/s) Desktop Memory CP2K32G4DFRA32A"

Do you think that's overkill in a P03-640 with 12400F and 3060ti currently 2 x 8 GB Crucial RAM? 500W power supply. For gaming / flight sim

Thanks for your great info thus far.

The issue with the Crucial tool is that they always offer the most expensive options first and you have to scroll down (sometimes way down) in order to get the baseline upgrades. In this case the motherboard supports 3200 JEDEC memory, so the Crucial you mention looks to be correct. No need to go with 64GB, I have 32GB in my Predator and it's just fine. 64GB or 128GB is more for video and higher end image editing, not really needed for gaming.
