Acer Swift X SFX16-51G becomes very slow how to solve this problem

Hi,

Frequently when I turn on my new Acer laptop (either from sleep or hibernation) it becomes unusable (very very slow, more than 10 times slower than normal to do anything).

The only way to make the computer work again as expected is to completely shutdown and turn it on again.

I'd like to know how to solve this problem, since it never occurred with my previous laptops.

Go to setting and check for updated. If there is any updates pending than complete it. If you still have issue than you can do a reset.

But if you going to do a reset you will lose all data. So take a back up and do the reset it will fix the issue. Below is the link to perform reset on win 10 and win 11.

That's another problem. Right now I have five updates avaliable on Windows Update that failed installation.

Two with Download error - 0x8024a206.

Three with Install error - 0x800703f1.

I tried several times for more than one week without success.

Try running chkdsk on the C: drive. You may have to restart and have it run during bootup to get it to do it. If it fixes the problem, then you might be looking at a failing drive.

None of the proposed solutions worked, so I made a factory reset and installed Windows 11 again from the cloud.

After all the time spent to install and configure the applications I need to work one more time, the problem occurred again!!!

This time it was even worse. I received the message "Your PC Ran into a Problem and Needs to Restart" and had to shut down the computer 2 times before it came to normal.

Windows update is up to date. I have the latest drivers from the Acer drivers page. chkdsk detects no errors.

How can I return this faulty computer? Repairing will not solve the problem, since it is intermittent and nobody knows where is the problem.

  • When this problem occurs, is the processor clock stuck in the task manager? Does the same issue occur when disabling fast startup in power options?

Can you clarify what you mean with "the processor clock stuck in the task manager"?

I you try to disable fast startup to see what happens, but I don't see how it will solve the problem, since the it occurs when I use either hibernate or sleep but not when I shut down.

"Fast Startup is a Windows 10 feature designed to reduce the time it takes for the computer to boot up from being fully shut down."

clearly a sign of malware attack (scan by downloading and installing adware cleaner, smadav and symantec/mcafee) - download here https://www.mediafire.com/folder/r8pdn1fts9hiy/Software

uninstall unnecessary apps that sometimes run in the background. (use IOBit uninstaller - can be download in the same link)

disable startup apps using the task manager

    optimize and defragment the drive

    try System Restore

reset using the factory image of the drive

if all else fail, try the following:

    1. insert a usb flash drive to your laptop or desktop computer. (be sure to backup the contents of your usb flash drive)
    2. download rufus https://rufus.ie/en/, then run it.
    3. left click the drop down arrow next to the word "SELECT" and left click "DOWNLOAD" to download the original Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft. Watch the full tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me-GmdIlbgc&ab_channel=PortalSeven
    4. after that, press START. wait for it to finish.
    5. close rufus, open your usb flash drive then run the setup executable.
    6. be sure to backup all the files in Drive C: or any drive partition where the operating system resides before doing step 5.
    7. be sure you have a good internet connection for the contents of the flash drive to be updated to the latest.
    8. as the setup runs, select delete all files, like you are installing a fresh operating system.
    9. wait and trust the process to complete.
    10. after that, download the latest official drivers from Acer. https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/drivers-and-manuals
    11. download the serial number detection utility/tool to obtain the device serial number or SNID
    12. download all the drivers, extract each, then install.
    13. hopefully, your problem will be solved.
    14. driver problems happens when you restore your operating system using the factory recovery image.
    15. after all the drivers installed and working properly. make an image of the whole drive using macrium reflect, aomei, easeus, minitool and many others. Watch the tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9BGn4MivJw&ab_channel=BracerJack
    16. the purpose of making your own backup image of the whole drive is to shorten the restoration process in case of problems or malware attacks.

The processor info in Task Manager does not change when the computer becames slow (clock at 3.40 GHz).

Desabling fast startup did not solve the problem.

No malware was detected. I do not intend to install programs from third party external links.

I'm still stuck with this problem.

I already did the first one. It was a waste of my time.

How to downgrade to Windows 10 if I don't have a copy?

    1. insert a usb flash drive to your laptop or desktop computer. (be sure to backup the contents of your usb flash drive)
    2. download rufus https://rufus.ie/en/, then run it.
    3. watch this video tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmIFNUuLsKA&ab_channel=MuhammedshafiKandoth but skip directly to 1:10 minutes of the video
    4. restart your computer and boot the usb... (press F12 key if you already enabled the F12 key in the BIOS or wait for the BIOS to detect and boot your usb flash drive if you already set the boot device priority to usb hard disk or name of the usb flash drive.

At this moment (not slowed down) crystaldiskinfo says health status good 100%. CPU and GPU temperatures are in the range 30-39 degrees Celsius (measured with OpenHardwareMonitor).

I uninstalled Onedrive and the remaining pre-installed bloatware. Now the system is running smoother (much less fan activity) and I haven't had the slow down problem in the last few days.

jaafonso Member Posts: 29 Enthusiast WiFi Icon

    @egydiocoelho

Since I disabled fast startup and uninstalled the Onedrive and bloatware, the problem of slowness occurred only once, when powered by battery, but this time the laptop came back to normal behavior when I turned on the charger without having to restart the computer.

On the other hand, yesterday I received a Windows notification about my SSD. I checked with CrystalDiskInfo and the temperature was 63 degrees. I kept CrystalDiskInfo open and frequently the temperature reaches values above 60 degrees, but if I decrease the use.

Now while I'm writing this message the temperature is 30 degrees, but there was a time yesterday with high load where it reached 73 degrees, and today it reached 70 degrees when I started using the laptor and was only reading emails.

    Is this behavior normal?
