Hi
Today i buyed Aspire A515-52G (ssd 256 GB) (without system)
In bios (v.1.14) i'l changed sata-mode from  "optane wihtout raid"  to "ahci".
I installed Windows 10 and all drivers.
Next, i have installed  latest bios from ACER site -  ver.  1.16  -   2019/11/28
But, after reboot i'l got BSOD with "INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE" ...
When I entered in bios - sata-mode again been "optane wihtout raid" , and i can't change it in "ahci" (no this option in menu)...
How i can fix this?

That's what happens when you trust manufacturers would do a good job at testing their things before releasing them to the public, I don't know who the hell is responsible but I hope not everything at Acer works how that team does.

The firmware upgrade you did restored default settings, because why the hell not. It not only changed the storage operation mode, but also the rest of the settings (Function key mode, D2D, Fast boot, etc.). That's not how you do things, and certainly without even tell the user that'll be done.

And not only that, but the hiding of the storage mode selection wasn't disclosed to the user either. You got a glimpse at that change in the changlog for your model, "1. Update hotkey to show SATA mode in BIOS page.", but they never did tell you what hotkey it was. Seriously... the firmware options are limited as they are already, at least be transparent with what you change and notify users.

There was another model in which they mistakenly I presume, hid the option and didn't provide a hotkey. So the only solution is to downgrade the firmware from 1.23 to 1.08 (you read right, there was no release in between), and of course not upgrade again because the option would be gone.

Aaaaanyway, rant mode off, I'm guessing that option was hidden to prevent some users to get boot errors in Windows is they decided to change that setting without reinstalling or re-deploying; but the real reason is anyone's guess.

As for me I'd rather have a full fledged configurable firmware like other vendors do even in low-end models, we can only hope I'm afraid.

I'am perfectly agree...only an retard person hide that option and does not specify shortcut. I lose 3 day to find why I could not install Ubuntu on performant laptop with 16Gb of Ram, I5 cpu and M.2 NVMe. I guess on first day I was shocked, because I can't do a linux installation

Tap F2 on startup to enter BIOS menu. Press F9 to set BIOS defaults. Press F10 to save default setting and exit.

hallo , i do it but nothing happen, already i reset my laptop using windows 11 disk image iso file and my laptop working properly.

resetting my laptop remove all application and program ,my system drive c is (nvme ssd 500 gb ) and drive d is (1 tb hdd ) ,but when i open bios i see this message (HDD0: NVME SSD DOESN'T SUPPORT HDD).

something wrong , i hope to downgrade bios from ver 1.16 to ver 1.14 by easy way and keep my system drive c (nvme ssd 500 gb ) safe from damage .
