My touch pad does not work....

I have used  sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-20.04

This command did work Once and only once. But It no longer functions after updating to the listed version.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Hello, Unfortunately the process above gave no joy.

Listed here is the mouse & Touch-pad info.

    -input:4

          product: SYNA7DB5:01 06CB:CD41 Mouse

          physical id: 5

          logical name: input14

          logical name: /dev/input/event5

          logical name: /dev/input/mouse0

          capabilities: i2c

     *-input:5

          product: SYNA7DB5:01 06CB:CD41 Touchpad

          physical id: 6

          logical name: input15

          logical name: /dev/input/event6

          logical name: /dev/input/mouse1

          capabilities: i2c

I have test MANY Different version of Linux and None of them make this touch-pad work.

As I said prior; It was working in Linuxmint 20 using the following but when I updated to 20.3 & 21 it no longer works:

     sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-20.04

    I'm at a loss.

  • Try performing this procedure:

    a) access the bios by pressing f2 before the acer logo.

    b) go to main tab, press ctrl+s and change touchpad to ps2.

Try https://linux-hardware.org/ and search on the touchpad product numbers. They might be too new for the Linux developers to support, but likely they are just not included in the standard distribution.

That just means the Linux developers finally got around to porting the drivers for the touchpad. It's an ongoing process for them to support the new hardware...
