Hello
French user of an old Acer Aspire One ZG5 I installed Windows 8 on it. Everything runs fine except the Camera Suyin. I found a lot of discussions but never could get the right driver.
I hope in your community to give me a true link to that driver.
Thanks and regards

First see if this ACER driver tool can download and run on your machine, detect the camera and suggest its driver.

If not, then try iobit's DriverBooster freeware  driver tool.

    Then the camera is working!

In the device manager I have acer crystal eye webcam (Windows had detected it even before installing the suyin driver). In the programs menu a folder acer crystal eye webcam with only uninstall. I downloaded camera programs: none see the webcam. I don't think this driver is good!

If crystal eye web still exists in Device Manager, does it have any red or yellow warning symbols?

Your laptop isn't equipped with a camera on LED indicator.

Re-do the on line WebCam test but this time shine a bright light directly into the webcam  pinhole. Don't bring light too close to avoid melting plastic.

I did as you said with a light ; in a first step the camera was detected ; in the second one the message was : "Testing was completed successfully. The results are displayed in the “Webcam Information” table. Please do not forget to leave a review about your webcam."
Followed a summary ; and at the end no identification more precise...

Well, the camera seems to be working but with low sensitivity. Almost as if the eye lens is dirty or misaligned with the pinhole in the screen bezel. Have you looked inside the pinhole with a magnifying glass to see if something might  be blocking the lens? When you turn on CrystalWebCam do you see any tool icons visible on the screen to adjust brightness, sensitivity and other properties?

Search 'crystal' in Windows start menu. What pops up near the top of the menu?

Download unzip and try to re-install the Crystal driver from this link.  I'm not sure Win8x is entirely backward compatible its installation executable or for that matter the driver itself. If not, then right click properties on the installation executable. Click the compatibility tab. And try to run it in Win7 compatibility mode.

Same result with a group with only the uninstall program.
in French an expression says when you cling to solving a problem that you gnaw your bone to the marrow! I think I will resolve to give up! Will try to pass in 7. And I'll tell you

If you checked to make sure the lens in the pinhole was clear of dust/debris and not misaligned, then I suspect the issue is trying to run Win8x on Win7/WinXP era netbook.

I tried it myself on a similar netbook that I'm using right now in this reply about a year before Win7 support ended. Some of the peripherals didn't work or didn't work well anymore even in Win7 compatibility mode. I finally gave up, bit the bullet, and now everything works but not with Windows even though it looks, feels and acts like Windows7 only better and faster. It's called LinuxMint. You might want to consider it.
