It works just fine but the second it gets unplugged it dies and nothing I try to do seems to work do I need to go get it repaired?

It seems that the battery might be defected and might need replacement

First, what is your laptops model number? As some laptops have a “Battery Reset” pin at the underside of the laptop and some laptops batteries are reset by pressing the “Power Button or the Key” for 10 seconds. Also, does your laptop work on just the battery? As allot of times the battery level is wrong, especially on and if this battery is not a genuine battery. Try to unplug the laptop from its charger and see if it works, if it does, then use it until the laptop turn off if it dosent, then rset the battery and see if it works, if that doesn’t work then replace the battery especially if your laptop is old and the battery is the original battery. .

You need a Battery replacement, since your good old Battery cannot hold any electrical charges anymore.
