nitro5 an515 My keyboard is not working after sugary liquid spilled on it, what should I do?

2 days ago I accidentally spilled a sugar containing liquid on the left side of my nitro5 an515 keyboard. I didn't shut it down until 30 minutes later on but after the accident I immediately took the power off and hold it upside down so the liquid would come out.

 Then I tried to rinse it with some cleaning liquid containing deionized water, alcohol and some kinds of sulfates. And then tried to dry it out while holding it upside down.

When I turned it on after about  1:30 hours the keyboards didn't work. whenever I pressed a button it showed a loading sign on the screen.

I took it to a service store and they said that the whole keyboard has lost it's connection to the rest of the laptop and they have to change the whole thing. The liquid has dried out soon but the connection problem has happened.

Considering the situation I'm not sure if I should trust them in this case or  if this is the expected outcome from what I described.

What's the best to do in this situation?

Fatemji you never ever clean your keyboard (as keyboards you have to take apart and mostly they are a mess when you do that) as its easier to replace them and keep your old one as spre parts board or motherboards with some sort of "deionized water, alcohol and some kinds of sulfates"! The best and especially for sugar containing liquids, is to use the ordinary zippo lighter fluid that cleans the sugary fluid and also applies a shield to components to restrict them from shorting out as alcohol does not do that. Anyway it seems that your keyboard needs replacing as it’s shorted and also I would recommend that you clean like I’ve described above the motherboard face where the keyboards under face is mounted, as that could also have some liquid spillage on it. Btw an AN515 keyboard is not a big deal to change.

You can dry the zippo fluid with a hair dryer or the speciality soldering hot gun and let it dry for 30 min before remounting a new keyboard and firing up your laptop. I’ve seen some really badly liquid damaged (with sugary liquids also) boards being revived with the above process and with additional method which is in extreme cases that needs refloating with a soldering heat gun some of the mosfet, capacitors affected etc to make laptops and desktops work, so it works!
