Hello! I bought me an Acer Aspire V3772G few days ago. The last days I have got Driver_Power_State_Failure 3-4 times every day The minidump says the error is from ntoskrnl.exe, adress: ntoskrnl.exe+5A440

Anyone knows a way to solve this problem?

    Hi aupetter,

I also bought a V3-772G a few days ago (the one model with 32 GB RAM, GTX 760M, 256 GB SSD and 1 TB HDD) and it also crashes every few hours with the exact same error address (ntoskrnl.exe+5A440), most often caused by an IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error and once by a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION error. I noticed that the crashes occur especially when playing a full HD video using Acer's clear.fi Media player or VideoLAN Client or when watching a YouTube video in Chrome browser (with hardware acceleration enabled).

Unfortunately, I have no clue what the problem could be, because I already checked the RAM using MemTest86+ 4.2 overnight for errors, reinstalled the Intel HD Graphics driver (same version, though), checked GPU temperatures while running 3DMark and FurMark (never exceeded 65°C), and I uninstalled the anti-virus software. The last step I performed about one hour ago, was upgrading the BIOS from version 1.05 to 1.06. Since then, I had no crash so far, even though VLC is playing a full HD video in the background since booting Windows after the BIOS upgrade. So, perhaps, this was the solution. I'll keep you updated if not.

As promised, here is my update. My V3-772G just crashed again. This time with a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION while I was playing WarCraft IIISmiley Frustrated

According to the mini dump, the crash address once more was ntoskrnl.exe+5a440, but this time caused by Microsoft's DirectX Graphics MMS driver dxgmms1.sys at address dxgmms1.sys+41468. (The last 7 crashes before the BIOS update were caused by ntoskrnl.exe itself.)

I really don't know what else I could do to solve this problem. I invested a lot of time and spent a lot of money for a new notebook which turned out to be too unstable for doing serious work, for playing games or even for watching movies. Smiley Sad

Does anybody with the same problem have found a solution meanwhile? If so, please share it with us. Thanks.

Hi, did you find solution for that. I bought this model a fey days ago  and I'm facing similar problem.

My operating system is Windows 8.1. Freezes occure in random circumstances(during login to the system, during normal work). Almost always I can reproduce the problem doing refresh of available software in control panel/device manager (or similar name - I don't have English version of Windows).

I'm currently running bios version 1.12. On Acer's official site there is newer version 1.13 available. Should I upgrade bios? What if system freeze (driver_power_state_failure) will occure during this process? Is it safe to update bios or should I return laptop to shop?

but I forgot to mention (I dont know if it is important) that I have Win8.1 installed on plextor m5m 128gb ssd drive.

    Hi arekp,

I have exactly the same problems you are describing: Win 8.1 is freezing often when trying to login, then I see a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.

Have you found out, what the problem was?

I would be very thankful, if you can give me a hint. At the moment I guess it is something related to the SSD. I also use a SSD, an OCZ Vertex 4 128 GB. Additionally I updated the Bios already to 1.13 (which does NOT solve the problem) and I need to set the bios mode to legacy, since in UEFI mode, my Win 8 DVD was not booting... Additionally I updated all drivers with the latest available at acer support download page. But I have still the problem. My next step would be probably to replace the SSD and hope the best...

    Best Regards

    linus

I replaced the SSD with an Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB. Additionally I reinstalled Windows 8.1 and switched BIOS mode to UEFI. Unfortunately the sam Error appeares again: Driver_Power_State_Failure

    Any advice?

I found a hint at the HP support website, where other people having similar problems. It seems the NVIDIA driver often give people trouble. So I didn't use the one from the Ressource CD coming with the Aspire V3-772g and also NOT the one from acer support Homepage, but I download and installed the latest available from NVIDIA for the 760M. I will test the next two days and keep you up-to-date.

Good news: I didn't have the problem anymore. So it seems the new NVIDIA drivers fixed the issue with Win 8.1.

Guten tag, good day, i've got the same acer aspire and the same issues since months, but now, i can't get to the desktop, because, while logging in, the laptop freezes but not crash, and when it crashes, it comes everytime the same driver_power....etc error.

Before this, i got the same other errors with dram and others, while surfing in the web, listening to music or watching a video.

10 minutes ago, i downloaded the newest chipset driver and installed it...and since then, the laptop won't start.

how do i fix this problem?

how did you manage to install the new drivers? Everytime I try I get interrupted by another blue screen error...  Why on earth is no one from ACER responding to this issue?

I have a V3-771 with the same problem

At least I can see here that Acer has bad support and to stay away from them in the future.

I did have a limited solution at one point. Core temp was the cause for about a year then once I removed it the problem went away, for about 3 months. Now its back with a vengence. Before it was maybe once a day. Now its at least 3 times a day. At least...
