I have seen a few other peopel having this same problem with the screen turning black during games, the game is still responsive for like 10 seconds, then I have to power down my laptop.  I have started resetting the battery (I learned this from this forum) but now sometimes it deicdes notto recognize my graphics card .. it is like it is not there at all.  THe predator sense does not register its heat, the NVIDIA settings is gone from start up bar, and it is not in my device manager.   I have been able to fix this by resetting the battery and it comes back but then the game will glitch hit a point where the screen goes black again.

I have seen youtube videos showing this problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6na7L4O-kE&ab_channel=RazielDarcy and other posts on acer community https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/582038/black-screen-issue-on-triton-500-census-of-owners and https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/566122/random-blackscreens-predator-triton-500

I have turned off the option for Discrete GPU from predator sense.
I do not use LCD overdrive.

Does ACER have any kind of statement about this problem? It appears to be happening to many people.

Kindly follow the steps given below..

Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug  the charger cable, devices or any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, you can find a  pin hole. It is a tiny hole. You can a find a battery symbol indicator next to the hole. It is like a + and - sign symbol as though somebody is trying to shift the battery out. Insert the pin on to the hole for 30 seconds. Remove the pin. Flip the laptop. Connect the charger cable, turn on the computer.  Only on laptops where the battery is inbuilt you can find the battery reset hole on the back of laptop.

If you dont find a pin hole on the back of laptop then you might be using removable battery. There is no need to unscrew anything to remove the battery.  Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug  the charger cable, devices and any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, please look at the top or bottom depending on the way you look at it. You can find a long door. It is a battery removable door.  Just below that you can find a latch.  If you move the latch you can remove the battery door. Once the battery is removed,  flip the laptop. Open the top cover, press and hold the power button for 1 minute. Connect the battery back on the back of computer. Connect the charger cable back and then turn on the computer.

If you don’t see a reset pin hole on the back of laptop or if you are not able to remove the battery (if it is inbuilt ) then please unplug all the cables and devices out of laptop.   Hold the power button for 1 minute.   Connect all the cables back and restart the computer.

While turning on the computer, tap f2. It  will go to bios. Press f9  once. It will show load bios defaults with a yes or no popup. Press enter. Popup screen will disappear.  Press f10 once. It will show save changes popup with yes or no. Press enter. Computer will restart and it will load into windows.

    It should work fine..

If it is still not working..

    Try windows x
    go to device manager
    expand display adapter
right click on display driver - uninstall
    Restart the computer

    It should work fine..

If it is still not working
Uninstall the display adapter from device manager
    Dont restart the computer.
    Go to support.acer.com
    chose your country
type snid or chose your model
    go to drivers
    Install the display driver

    It should work fine..

I have reset the battery numerous times and is is the only thing that gets me working again but it does not stop it from happening again.

I installed new drivers for my graphics card and will see if that works.

I will try the BIOS at reboot if it happens again.

    Thank you !

I updated the NVIDIA drivers ... there was a newer one.  It worked for awhile but screwed up again ... went to black ... and made my Graphics card invisible again.

Now when you say to uninstall by display driver ... do you mean adapter? It does not give me an option to just uninstall the driver only.

Do you want me to unsintall the entire dispaly adapter (graphics card) from the system and then re-install it from autodetect?

it is slightly different now .. the screen does not go black anymore and it looks like my GPU is there but when you look at predator sense the GPU has no temperature ... and when you try to play any games it is definately no graphics card present.

The battery reset button has also stoped working and no longer turns off the battery or reset it .
