Cannot acces bios menu anymore on my Nitro 5 AN515-54

when I try to acces the bios by pressing f2 at boot it goes to a blank screen with an underscore in the top left corner(looks a bit like a blank terminal or something).
at first the problem was that i could only access the bios when rebooting from an os(not when starting the laptop from a shutdown configuration) but now i cant get into it at all
i have tried dual booting linux in the last two weeks or so(first with ubuntu then switching to manjaro) i have deleted the linux prtition with the intention of switching distro again which was the point at which the bios stopped working preventing me from doing that(as i cant boot into a live usb without changing boot settings)
i have the suspicion that the problem has something to do with the efi boot partition still being set up for linux even though linux isn't present anymore on my disk but i can't seem to find a way to reset it without being able to boot into a live usb.
also note that i have the bios option set to require a password to enter the bios(i did that so i could disable secure boot) and that the f12 boot menu was disabled by default so i am unable to use it to boot to a live usb etc.

If you are not able to go to bios by tapping f2 then try these following steps..

    Turn off the computer..
Try alt + f10 or alt gr + f10  or alt car + f10 while turning on the computer
It will show you - chose an option, continue , troubleshoot
    Go to troubleshoot
It will show you reset this pc - advanced options
    Go to advanced options
It will show 5 to 6 advanced options
chose uefi - click on restart
    It will go to bios..

    Thank you for your answer.
it did solve my original problem(being that i can't acces the bios) but it also shows a new problem i wasn't aware of before.
when i go to the boot options, rather than showing "windows boot manager" like i would expect, it shows ubuntu(which i have deleted like i said in the original post) and a "!" that doesnt even have a number associated to it like ubuntu does in the list, i dont know what this means but it seems to indicate some kind of error, i just left the bios choosing the option to discard changes after seeing that because i don't want to accidentally mess something up in my system

I am glad that you are able to access the bios..

On the bios screen you can tap f9 once - it will load bios defaults - press enter
Tap f10 - save the changes - press enter
It will load the bios defaults..

Note: If you want you can load the bios defaults... but once again you have to reconfigure the bios settings to load the ubuntu or linux..  or else you can leave as it is...

i am unsure if resetting the bios to defaults will solve my problem as windows doesn't even show up in the boot order.
like i described earlier it only shows an exclamation mark(indicating some kind of error) and an operating system that i dont even have installed anymore
i could be wrong but i don't think that resetting it to defaults will make it detect windows again as there seems to be some kind of external issue(it started happening after deleting said operating system from my drive after all and not after changing some bios setting)
i could of course still try resetting it just to see if it works but since windows doesn't show up on the boot settings i fear that it will make me unable to boot to windows which is something i obviously dont want.

You seemed to run into my similar problem last year.

Here is a link for the thread I started:

Hope this can help you solve the problem.

Thank you that thread actually solved my problem completely.
i was pretty sure it was a problem with the boot partition when starting this thread but didn't know how to fix it. thanks

Glad to help! This kind of problem isn't that common. Didn't see people mentioned about this kind of problem in the Acer Community in the past year as far as I recall.
