I had updated the BIOS and drivers on my tablet then made some changes to the wireless driver. One of the changes included unchecking the “Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power”. This was all done hoping I could access the shared folders on my desktop faster. It would take 3 to 4 minutes, after waking up the tablet, before I could access the shared folders.

At the same time I made some changes to another program that wasn’t working correctly. After that is when I started to have the wake from sleep problem. Because of the timing of this problem I associated it with the program changes and not the wireless driver. Removing the program did not help so I went to the extreme and did a factory reset.

My factory reset/recovery might be different than the way others do it for a couple of reasons.

    1. When I received the unit back from AcerServiceCenter after they repaired it, my disk partitions were not correct.
    2. I could not use Acer Recovery Management because of a popup box “Hard drive configuration is not set to the factory default. Backup aborted”.
    3. Luck for me I made a USB thumb drive with factory default backup on it before shipping the unit to Acer.

With this USB I was able to do a complete Factory Restore and it allowed me to restore the factory partitions on the hard drive. After all that is when I realized the problem had been the wireless driver. Now when I uncheck the box tablet won’t wakeup and when it’s check it wakes with no problem.

The only other thing that could cause a problem is the Acer Live Updater. It shows 0 updates available for my tablet. Yet I have all the original drivers but the newest BIOS, because of updating before doing the factory recovery. I had to download the drivers and force the wireless update, by pointing it to the download. I guess Acer only checks the BIOS and not the drivers for the latest update.

Had this problem happen to me aswell, I believe I fixed it by making sure the 'allow this device to wake the computer' setting was set on the network card amd all HID devices (screen etc), havent had it happen in a week!
