Aspire A515-57 Laptop not detecting devices via Thunderbolt/USB-C, the port is not working.

Greetings, the title states, the USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 port isn't detecting devices whatsoever. The port does not seem to have suffered damage. I've tested with multiple cables and devices, including a desktop PC, smartphone, and a power bank. All the device and cables worked without issue, it is only the laptop's port. The other ports work without issue, only the Thunderbolt/USB-C.

Above screenshot should prove that I've updated my drivers, though I'm not sure about BIOS. Everything else should be up to date.

The MFG Date is 2024/10/15, I got the laptop this month.

I tried resetting the Internal Battery it did not work.

    Hi Tiara_Sinica,

Since your Aspire A515‑57’s Thunderbolt 4/USB‑C port isn’t detecting any devices despite working cables and peripherals, this is unlikely to be a simple cable or peripheral fault.

    I’d suggest:

    1. Update the BIOS to the latest release — version 1.31 (2025/07/09) — which includes a Thunderbolt 4 (TBT4) update. You can download it from Acer’s support page for your exact model.
    2. After the BIOS update, restart and let Windows Update install or refresh the Thunderbolt controller driver automatically.
    3. Open the Thunderbolt Control Center (from the Microsoft Store if not already installed) and check that the port is enabled and set to allow new devices.
    4. Test again with a known‑good Thunderbolt 4 or USB‑C device that supports data (not just charging).

If the port still doesn’t respond after the BIOS update and driver refresh, it may be a hardware‑level fault with the TBT4 controller or its power rail, which would require service inspection.

What type of TBT device are you trying to connect to the A515-57 TBT4 left side port, as on my Aspire A515-57-56UV model in Device Manager > System devices > it only has the UMBus Root Enhancer driver version: 10.0.26100.1150 but it doesn’t have the Thunderbolt Controller – 1137 version 1.41.1340.0 like in my Predator Helios Neo PHN16-71 laptop model has.

The TBT4 port will NOT work without this Thunderbolt Controller, have a look at this Acer guide on "Firmware update can resolve Thunderbolt 3 recognition" so I suggest that you update the bios to the last A515-57 bios version 1.31 as bios version 1.30 has an ME firmware update that could fix the TBT4 issues. Otherwise you need to download that TBT controller for the port to work. As I've never ever used the TBT4 on my Aspire A515-57-56UV model. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

This is the Aspire A515-57 left side TBT4 port and what Acer describes that you can connect to this port:

Below is my Predator PHN16-71 TBT4 drivers in Device Manager and as you can see it has the TBT4 controller 1137 additional feature which the A515-57 does not have .

Aspire A515-57 Device Manager only has the UMBus Root Enhancer driver version: 10.0.26100.1150
