I still have same problem ( ı know ı am not the only one) and no real solution found or offered so far. I can not update nvidia driver. If ı do that when ı run a game screen freezes while laptop switching from igpu to dgpu. But you can still hear the sounds of the game at backround. When ı rollback to previous driver everthings work smootly. This laptop just 1,5 years old. And now ı have to stuck with the old nvidia drivers that provided with acer support page. This is a gaming laptop and most important thing is being have newest nvidia driver to be able to play latest game. There is definetly a software problem and this is definitly caused by Acer side, not by Nvidia side. This problem still exist wheather intentionally or because of their incompetence of Acer support team. What sort of stupid thing happing with acer ?? Isnt there any body to really solve the problem ????

Note: Please dont suggest meaningless solutions like :
  • Faulty ram : I dont have faulty ram.
  • Update windows : I have win 11 pro 24h2 and latest version already.
  • Using DDU to uninstal and reinstall drivers : I have done it already countless time.
  • Stay with working version of the nvidia driver: This laptop is new, not a 5 years old gaming laptop.

Hi, you wrote "Using DDU to uninstal and reinstall drivers : I have done it already countless time.", but did you uninstall in Safe Mode with DDU? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-startup-settings-1af6ec8c-4d4a-4b23-adb7-e76eef0b847f and did you use the "Clean and restart" option in DDU (see red arrow, picture) and did you "Check for updates" in Windows afterwards and installed the driver in Optional updates?

Yes that "countless time" was refering in Safe Mod along with "clean and restart option" actually. And didnt change anything. As I have already explained in my previous post I have spent long time to fix that issue without any success.

And did you install the Nvidia driver that Windows offered in optional updates or did you downloaded a driver from the Nvidia driver support site. It would help if you posted your full Nitro 16 model, the dGPU driver from Acer Support is probably the best driver.

    Dear Puraw,

Thanks for trying to solve the problem.

I have tried both nvidia support page and windows katalog drivers. However windows optinal updates was never offered a nvidia driver anyway. It only installs (if you do not install nvidia driver by yourself) during the windows setup and that drivers are always old drivers. Acer support may be the best driver however they dont update their drivers the latest driver you can find from the page is 546.*** version which is more than a year old driver. This is very big problem because to play some games especcially the recent released ones you have to have up to date drivers since this is a gaming laptop. Moreover until end of January this year there was no such a problem. I was updating the drivers and was working smoothly. My full system profile is :

    Model : AN16-41 Nitro

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics

    dGPU: Nvidia RTX 4060

    Ram: 32 GB 5600mhz

    Windows 11 Pro 64bit 24H2 version :26100.4061

If your Acer Nitro 16 AN16-41 freezes while gaming, you should first try updating your graphics drivers and chipset drivers. If that doesn't work, consider reinstalling your graphics drivers using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). Additionally, check your BIOS and update it if necessary, and make sure your Windows installation is up to date.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps:

    1. Update Drivers:
Graphics Drivers: Download and install the latest graphics drivers from AMD's website or NVIDIA, depending on your specific AN16-41 model.
Chipset Drivers: Update the chipset drivers for your laptop's motherboard.
BIOS: Check for and install the latest BIOS version for your AN16-41.
    2. Reinstall Drivers (if necessary):
If updating doesn't fix the issue, use DDU to completely remove your graphics drivers before reinstalling the latest version.
    3. Check for Conflicts:
Uninstall Unused Programs: Remove any unnecessary software that might be conflicting with your gaming setup.
Check Event Viewer: The Event Viewer might provide clues about errors or crashes related to the freeze.
    4. Optimize System:
Update Windows: Ensure your Windows operating system is up to date.
Delete Temporary Files: Clear out temporary files that might be causing issues.
    5. Hardware Checks:
Test RAM: Use a memory diagnostic tool to check for any RAM errors.
Check for Overheating: Ensure your laptop is properly cooled and that the fans are working correctly.
    6. Other Tips:
Restart your PC: A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
Close unnecessary programs: Close any background applications that might be using resources while you're gaming.
Adjust in-game settings: Try lowering graphics settings to see if that helps.

Hi, unfortunetly there is no version works, if you wanna use other than Acer support page version. And Acer do nothing at all to fix this problem. It is very big shame for almost recently released a gaming laptop. The only way I can help you with it is suggesting the latest Acer support version nvidia driver which is 556.29. Of course with the assumption of you have nitro 16-41 or nitro 16-42 model lapto. You can find this driver at following link :

    https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/product-support/Nitro_AN16-42/downloads?suggest=nitro_16-42;0

Steps you should follow to instal this driver :

    1- Unistall Nitrosense

2- Use DDU program to unistall existing nvidia driver in windows safe mode.

3- Download and Install the nvidia driver (556.29) from the link that I gave above

    4. Downlod and Install Nitrosense (version 5.0.1452) from againe the link that I gave above.

If you follow all these steps above probably the freezing problem will gone away. However you would be stuck with that driver. And if you try to update that driver the freezing problem will come back again.

I hope that I could give you a bit of relief.

    @nemred,

Press Win + R (Run) keys, type: dxdiag [Enter], wait for the tool to complete the initial check (green indicator bar), click in Save All information... button. Then attach here the DxDiag.txt file.

I hope that you can figure out the problem

    @nemred,

Contrary to what you said, your log indicates that your Windows 11 24H2 isn't updated (26100.1435).

    Install latest available build (26100.4351):

    https://support.microsoft.com/pt-br/topic/june-11-2025-kb5063060-os-build-26100-4351-out-of-band-b1746442-8c6c-425d-ac5a-3a8f51e372f3

There is also a report that LiveKernelEvent (1a8 and 1b8) errors are occurring on your Nitro AN16-41.

LiveKernelEvent code 1b8 is closely associated with faulty RAM (or VRAM), incompatible memory configurations, overclock or problematic drivers.

The GPU Mux Support it indicates "Unknown Error" (Development, Critical info missing). I recommend that you use the DDU tool (as previously suggested) and install the AMD Radeon(TM) 780M driver with the version available on Acer's support page:

    https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/product-support/Nitro_AN16-41/downloads?suggest=AN16-41;1

I have to indicates some points regarding your comments :

1- After your post I have checked my windows version againe and windows says that ı have got win 11 pro 24h2 build 26100.4351 and after that I have run dxdiag againe but result says build (26100.1435) How is that possible ???

2- I have tested my memories before and result was all ok. As I mentioned in first post when the drivers from Acer support page are installed there is no issues at all.

3- And question for you : How all those things related to Nitrosense. Because when I unistall the nitrosens from the system all switiching things works smootly without a freezing issue.

4- I will roll back AMD 780M to acer support page version while keeping the lates Nvidia driver and see if the problem persist.

    @nemred,

Which version of NitroSense software are you currently using?

In fact, you're right! Your Windows already is updated with the latest build. Contrary to what I thought, the DxDiag report doesn't indicate the currently installed build (Microsoft's Stranger Things).

NitroSense manages the MUX Switch via a software device driver. So it's possible that a conflict problem is occurring.

If the GPU switching problems persist, it is possible that your Nitro AN16-41's hardware is faulty (dGPU, VRAM, MUX controller). Try testing with an external monitor (HDMI port) to isolate all these possibilities.

In this case, I recommend that you contact Acer Support in your country to have your device repaired (RMA).
