My laptop is Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58-52KA I'm going to buy a SSD for second M2 NVMe slot. Is Samsung 990 Pro 1TB PCIe 4 compatible with it?

The AN515-58-52KA laptop typically utilizes PCIe 3.0 for its M.2 SSD slot. While some models might offer PCIe 4.0 SSDs, the AN515-58-52KA is generally associated with PCIe 3.0.

Your laptop has two M.2 slots one likely occupied by the primary SSD. The second M.2 slot supports PCIe NVMe SSDs (both Gen3 and Gen4). PCIe 4.0 Backward Compatibility. The Samsung 990 Pro is a PCIe 4.0 SSD, but it will work even if your laptop’s slot runs at PCIe 3.0 speeds just at reduced performance.

The 990 Pro is a standard M.2 2280 SSD, which fits your laptop’s M.2 slot. If the second slot is PCIe 3.0, the 990 Pro will run at ~3,500 MB/s (instead of its max 7,450 MB/s). If the second slot is PCIe 3.0, you could save money with a PCIe 3.0 SSD like: Samsung 970 EVO Plus, WD Black SN750.

Use HWInfo. Run it in "Summary Only" mode and look for "Bus Interface" under your current SSD (if installed).
    Example: "PCIe 4.0 x4" → Slot supports Gen4. "PCIe 3.0 x4" → Slot supports Gen3.
If the second slot is empty, HWInfo may not show it.

You can test with an SSD, If you have a PCIe 4.0 SSD, install it in the second slot and Use CrystalDiskMark to test speeds.
    PCIe 4.0 → ~5,000-7,000 MB/s (sequential read).
    PCIe 3.0 → ~3,500 MB/s (max).

Since your model (AN515-58) has an Intel 12th Gen CPU (i5-12500H), the second M.2 slot is likely PCIe 3.0.

I hope this helps! If this was useful, please hit 'Yes' or 'Like'! Thanks! 😊
