What is the model of the PC that you are using, is it a desktop or laptop. With Wi-Fi it depends on the drivers, card or the mainboard, if any one of these components malfunction then the wireless will not work. That link that you provided above explains all the different methods that you can take to get a Wi-Fi card operational, if that doesn't work then your card is faulty or the mobo is faulty, but it would help if you told us which model Acer PC you have, so that we can give you a more precise answer. Good luck.

if I run ip config, it shows an IP 192.168.0.3, but if I check the network map on the router, the laptop does not show up .
ipconfig /release & /renew dont lead to any change of IP address

I have faced this problem in my old laptop but instead of finding problem I just reset my laptop that time😅.

So, for your issue did you disable any services from windows?

Try to reinstall wifi driver, it will fix your issue probably:

Steps to Uninstall and Reinstall Network Driver Automatically
    1. Open Device Manager:
      • Press the Windows key + X and select Device Manager from the menu.
    2. Locate Network Adapter:
      • In Device Manager, expand the Network adapters section and find your network adapter name.
    3. Uninstall the Driver:
      • Right-click on the network adapter, select Uninstall device, and check the box for Delete the driver software for this device (if available). Click Uninstall.
    4. Restart Your Computer:
      • Restart your PC. Upon reboot, Windows will automatically detect and reinstall the network driver.

If Windows does not reinstall the driver automatically, download it manually from the acer website and install it.

If your Wi-Fi is connected but you have no internet access, try restarting your router and modem, or forgetting and reconnecting to the Wi-Fi network. If the problem persists, check your network adapter drivers, DNS settings, or contact your internet service provider.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps:
    Basic Troubleshooting:-

    Restart your router and modem:
Unplug both devices for 30 seconds, then plug them back in, starting with the modem first.
    Check other devices:
Ensure that the issue isn't specific to your device by testing internet access on another device connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Forget and reconnect to the Wi-Fi network:
On your device, forget the Wi-Fi network and then reconnect to it.
    Check cables and wires:
Ensure that all cables and wires connecting your modem and router are securely plugged in.
    Check modem lights:
Ensure that the WAN light on the router is flashing, and the DSL lights are ON or green.
    Troubleshooting on your device:
    Update network adapter drivers:
Outdated or corrupted network adapter drivers can cause connectivity issues.
    Run the Windows Network Troubleshooter:
Windows has a built-in troubleshooter that can help diagnose and fix network problems.
    Flush DNS cache:
Open Command Prompt as administrator and type ipconfig /flushdns.
    Renew IP address:
Open Command Prompt as administrator and type ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew.
    Check for proxy settings:
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy and turn off any manual proxy settings.
    Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall:
Sometimes, antivirus or firewall software can interfere with your internet connection.
    Check your IP address:
Ensure that your IP address is not something like 169.254.x.x, which indicates that Windows couldn't get an IP address from your router.
    If the problem persists:
Contact your internet service provider (ISP): They can help diagnose the issue and determine if there's a problem with their service.
Check for ISP outages: Check for ISP outages on sites like DownDetector.

thanks all, ran though the steps again as you suggested and now it works again. Few details that I did differently this time:

    • restarted not only the router but also the Starlink dish
    • when uninstalling the network adapter I also deleted 8 WAN miniports, which were shown underneath the WiFi Adapter in device manager

so not sure what fixed the problem, but could be one of those two things
