Bluetooth adapter missing from TC-1760 after disconnection, how can I restore it?

Not sure if right category (tried to change it but wouldnt let me) Anyway, so I have had my Acer TC-1760, with Windows 11 Home, for a little over a year. Yesterday i was watching a video and listening via bluetooth speaker. All was good when suddenly the speaker disconnected, i thought it was the speaker at first till it was able to connect to my phone :/ so i tried to see if pc was connected to the port (speaker) but it wasnt. Tried to reconnect and it kept telling me to turn on bluetooth but i dont have a way to do that (its always been on, on this pc, even when i go through bluetooth settings i never had an option to toggle it on/off)
So i checked device manager to see if there was an issue with the driver and it was gone from there too, so i checked hidden folders and "bluetooth" was there however it was only listing all the bluetooth devices connected to the pc and not the drivers themselves, theyd totally disappeared.

I have tried umpteen fixes, including running system health check, scannow, perf, all of which found no issues, restarted bluetooth support service & set it to auto, troubleshooter couldnt help, and acer care says no issues & no updates, windows all up to date too, yet in system info i can see that everything bluetooth (kernel drivers) arent running and even i know they are essential for getting bluetooth to function properly, so if they arent running then the bluetooth isnt going to function :/ but to get them to start to run every single site is saying to do the exact things i have tried or siply cant do because the drivers arent there :/
I also tried adding via device manager, scanning for hardware changes etc etc even trying system restore (which failed several times until i gave up - but did name all of the blue tooth drivers that would been deleted and id maybe get back, but i cant seem to find anywhere on the system) When ive downloaded bluetooth drivers from here, i "install" it only to be told installed but added to 0 devices :/

I have also done a reset (kept all my files) and it did absolutely squat except to then totally delete bluetooth from the device manager, nothing is even showing up in hidden files now.
I have checked BIOS too, and there is no bluetooth there either for me to see if its enabled or not…after every change ive restarted the pc, ive literally been on this since 8am today and its now 11.50pm (never mind all afternoon and evening yesdterday)

I am sorely regretting buying this pc as have had nothing but issues with it, but have always used acer and liked this due to the apparent 2tb memory its meant to have yet so slow at times, considering i have hardly anything downloaded or stored on it :/ I think my 14 yr old acer would probably run better than this one if i plugged it back in in all honesty.

So anyway, I dont want to have to do a complete factory reset and scared to do a "go back" as when i went to earlier it was like it was going to go back to windows 10 (as it said system would be taken back to previous version sorry to see you go kind of thing) Im wondering if updating the bios would help in reinstating the bluetooth adapter or could i totally ruin it even further?Current bios is American megatrends Inc RO1-B1 2022 version and i know there is an updated Aver Ro1-B1 version available.
Anyway, please help if you can, before i launch the pc out the window

Try to refresh the BT driver by do the below first:

Go to Device Manager > Bluetooth > select Intel or MTK whichever your BT is > right click the card Properties > Driver > Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer > and then pick the last and most recent dated BT driver that is in that list, and reinstall that driver, as afterwards your BT should work.

If the above doesn’t work, then completely uninstall the BT driver in Device Manger and reinstall the oem Acer TC-1760 BT driver version 10.0.0.1159 that Acer has for this desktop and let windows update the driver to its most current and compatible BT driver, as doing all this will work. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

If your Bluetooth functionality has disappeared on your device (TC-1760), try these troubleshooting steps: check the Windows settings to ensure Bluetooth is enabled and the icon isn't hidden, run the Bluetooth troubleshooter, restart the Bluetooth Support service, and update the Bluetooth driver.

    1. Check Windows Settings:
      Ensure Bluetooth is Enabled:
Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, and make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
      Check for Hidden Icon:
Ensure the Bluetooth icon is not hidden in the system tray. You might need to click the "Show Hidden Icons" arrow to reveal it.
    2. Run the Bluetooth Troubleshooter:
Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, Click "Additional troubleshooters", and Select "Bluetooth" and click "Run this troubleshooter".
    3. Restart Bluetooth Support Service:
Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
Type services.msc and press Enter to open the Services app.
Find "Bluetooth Support Service" in the list.
      Right-click it and select "Restart".
      Restart your computer.
    4. Update Bluetooth Driver:
Open Device Manager: Press Windows key + X and select "Device Manager".
Find Bluetooth Device: Expand the "Bluetooth" section or search for the specific Bluetooth adapter.
Update Driver: Right-click the Bluetooth device and select "Update driver".
Choose Update Option: Select "Search automatically for drivers" or "Browse my computer for drivers".
Restart Computer: After updating, restart your computer.
    5. Other Potential Issues:
Hardware Issue: If none of the above steps work, there might be a hardware issue with the Bluetooth module itself. In this case, you may need to contact the manufacturer or a technician for assistance.
Interference: Ensure that there are no other devices or objects causing interference with the Bluetooth signal.
Distance: Make sure the devices are within the recommended Bluetooth range.

I appreciate both of your input but as i have indicated in my comment, i have already tried all of these suggestions. Device manager isnt showing bluetooth even in hidden, support services is enabled etc etc
As you can see from the last picture the kernel drivers are there just not running, and obvs i cant turn the bluetooth device on, check for updates etc as the device isnt showing up in device manager :/ Its obvs theres nothing interfeing with signal as i was onnecting before and even if there was now something interfering with it, itd still show up on my system :/

    Would updating the Bios help?

I would sincerely hope its not the hardware itself given i only purchased it in Nov 2023!(so typically literally just out of warranty) & my previous acer (which was about 14 yrs old) all components and hardware are still working, albeit slow, so….

I copied this from Perplexity a few weeks ago and it fixed another member's problem. Maybe some you have tried or ALL but please try in the sequence listed. Good Luck.

If your internal Bluetooth has stopped working, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

    1. Check Hardware and BIOS Settings

    • Ensure your computer has Bluetooth hardware and that it is enabled in the BIOS. To do this:
      • Restart your PC and press the appropriate key (e.g., <DEL> or <F2>) to enter the BIOS.
      • Navigate to the "Advanced" or "Onboard Devices Configuration" section and ensure the Bluetooth controller is enabled15.
      • Save changes and restart.

    2. Verify Device Manager Settings

    • Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start menu.
    • Expand the Bluetooth section. If you see an arrow icon next to the Bluetooth device, it may be disabled. Right-click and select Enable device12.
    • If Bluetooth is missing entirely, click on View > Show hidden devices to check if it appears3.

    3. Update or Reinstall Drivers

    • Right-click on your Bluetooth device in Device Manager and select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software12.
    • If no updates are found, uninstall the driver by right-clicking on the device and selecting Uninstall device. Restart your PC, and Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
    • Alternatively, download and install the latest drivers from your computer or motherboard manufacturer’s website (e.g., ASUS, Intel)13.

    4. Run Windows Troubleshooter

    • Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
    • Select Bluetooth, then click Run the troubleshooter and follow the prompts2.

    5. Check Bluetooth Services

    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    • Locate these services:
      • Bluetooth Support Service
      • Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service
      • Ensure they are running. If stopped, right-click and select Start2.

    6. Disable Power Saving Features

    • In Device Manager, right-click your Bluetooth device, go to the Power Management tab, and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"2.

    7. Check for Windows Updates

    • Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update, then click Check for updates. Install any available updates2.

    8. Test for Hardware Issues

If none of these steps work:

    • Test with an external USB Bluetooth adapter to rule out hardware failure.
    • If your PC is new or under warranty, contact technical support as the internal Bluetooth module may be faulty37.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve most issues with internal Bluetooth functionality.

It is an onboard unit so no dongle.

The Acer Aspire TC-1760 desktop computer supports Bluetooth functionality, as it comes with built-in Bluetooth capabilities according to its technical specifications4. However, if you are experiencing issues with Bluetooth or it is not functioning, here are some steps and options to resolve the issue:

Troubleshooting Bluetooth on the Acer TC-1760

    1. Check Device Manager:
      • Open Device Manager on your PC.
      • Look for "Bluetooth" in the list of devices. If it is missing, try enabling "Show hidden devices" from the View menu.
      • If a Bluetooth device appears, right-click on it, select Properties, and check the driver status. Update or reinstall the driver if necessary.
    2. Update Drivers:
      • Visit Acer's official website and download the latest Bluetooth drivers for your specific model.
      • Alternatively, use tools like the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant if your desktop uses an Intel Bluetooth chipset13.
    3. Restart Bluetooth Services:
      • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
      • Locate all services related to Bluetooth (e.g., "Bluetooth Support Service"), ensure they are set to Automatic, and restart them.
    4. Check USB Root Hub Settings:
      • In Device Manager, under "Universal Serial Bus controllers," disable and re-enable the "USB Root Hub (USB 3.0)" device. This can sometimes restore Bluetooth functionality3.
    5. BIOS Settings:
      • Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled in the BIOS settings of your desktop.

    Adding or Replacing Bluetooth

If troubleshooting does not resolve the issue or if the internal Bluetooth hardware is damaged, you can use an external adapter:

    • USB Bluetooth Adapters:
      • Options like the Long Range USB Bluetooth 5.1 Adapter ($18.98) or similar devices are widely available and easy to use.
      • Simply plug in the adapter, install any necessary drivers, and enable Bluetooth functionality.
    • Internal Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Cards:
      • If you prefer an internal solution, you can install a compatible Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card like the Acer WLAN/Bluetooth Board (NFA344A) available for $8.99.

These solutions should help restore or enhance Bluetooth functionality on your Acer Aspire TC-1760 desktop.

ooth functionality on your Acer TC-1760 desktop is not showing up or has disappeared, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

    1. Check Device Manager

    • Open Device Manager by pressing Windows + X and selecting it from the menu.
    • Look for a "Bluetooth" section. If it is not visible:
      • Click on View > Show hidden devices to see if it appears.
      • If the Bluetooth adapter is listed but disabled, right-click and select Enable device.
      • If it’s missing entirely, proceed to reinstall or update the drivers.

    2. Update or Reinstall Bluetooth Drivers

    • Visit Acer's official support website and download the latest Bluetooth driver for your TC-1760 model.
    • Alternatively:
      • In Device Manager, right-click on your Bluetooth adapter (if visible) and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
      • If no updates are found, uninstall the driver by right-clicking on the device and selecting Uninstall device. Restart your PC, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

    3. Restart Bluetooth Support Services

    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    • Locate "Bluetooth Support Service."
      • Right-click and select Restart.
      • Double-click the service, set its Startup type to Automatic, and click Start if it’s not running.

    4. Run Windows Troubleshooter

    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
    • Select "Bluetooth" and run the troubleshooter to identify and fix issues.

    5. Perform a Power Drain and BIOS Reset

If software fixes don’t work, try resetting hardware settings:

    1. Turn off the computer and disconnect all cables, including power.
    2. Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to drain residual power.
    3. Reconnect all cables and power on the device.
    4. Enter BIOS by pressing DEL during startup. Reset BIOS settings by pressing F9 (Load Default), then F10 (Save & Exit).

    6. Check for Windows Updates

    • Ensure your system is fully updated by going to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates. Install any pending updates.

    7. Test with an External Bluetooth Adapter

If none of the above steps work, there may be a hardware issue with the internal Bluetooth module. Use a USB Bluetooth adapter as a workaround.

These steps should help restore Bluetooth functionality on your Acer TC-1760 desktop

hi, tried all this, only thing to try is the external dongle, so got one coming tomorrow.

If it is a hardware issue then that sucks,as the pc is just over a yr old…but would explain the issues ive had for months with sending/receiving files, no bluetooth option to turn it on/off (thats been from the start) & the speaker disconnecting randomly on/off for months too, only usuall i can get it to reconnect :/

    Thanks for your help.

Good Luck. Bluetooth can be tricky.

I'm not sure if mine works on my computer as I never use it except on my cellphone,
