Question regarding Predator Orion 7000 PO7-660 power connector issues

I ordered the Predator Orion 7000 PO7-660 prebuilt a while ago from a German retailer and i'm supposed to get it in a couple of weeks.

From what i read about the specs the GPU is going to be a 5090 and since this is my first Acer product i'm curios to know if Acer did anything to address the power connector issues that have started to appear on the 50 series GPUs, is there like some sort of fail safe in place or some sort of an alert that would allow users to shut down their PC's in order to prevent the connectors or cables melting.

Secondly i would also like to know if switching the cooler on the GPU and adding a custom water loop would void the warranty. On a regular GPU this would not be an issue however since this is a prebuilt i would like to know for sure.

The Acer Predator PO7-660 is a very new Acer desktop model and it doesn't have a service guide that we usually have access to, so we can't give you very much details on this desktop except from what is written on the web.

The new NVidia 50 series gpu's are also in that category, as .you will need to consult Acer Tech Support in Germany for an exact guide on the RTX5080 gpu plugs and what problems they have had or any notifications from NVidia about these plug faults melting. But this "meting of plugs on NVidia RTX30xx gpu's" is a common issue from the past, and its very unfortunate if its been carried over to the RTX50xx gpu's

Acer will cover an RTX5080 plugs melting under warranty as its a warranty issue, but be aware and if this happens, this is design fault made by NVidia once again and it will have to be rectified (if the card is not ruined completely) by changing the plug to a better heat resistant plug, like they did on the old RTX3080 and RTX3090 gpu's of the past. Note that your PO7-660 parts are all covered under warranty, so don't worry about this issue.

Witt the RTX5080 thermal module upgrade, Acer's warranty will be definitely voided if you change the RTX5080 thermal module to an upgraded water cooling system, as its not allowed within the 12 months Acer warranty. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Actually warranty will be dependent on your specific locale, so Acer Germany has potentially a wildly different warranty that, for instance, Acer USA. They could very easily keep the warranty valid for your system, and only void the warranty for the GPU card itself with that type of modification. Ask Acer support in Germany to be sure. My expectation is any instances of melting wires would only happen where systems were built with too small of wire gauge, which is very unlikely with any of the larger manufacturers.
