WIndows does not recognize m2-disks on my one month old Acer Nitro 50-656

After a few weeks Windows 11 refused to recognize the original 512 WD M2 disk, the same happens to a new Samsung 990 Pro disk. Windows presents the blue screen repair options, and I have tried them all without success.

Both disks are recognized by BIOS (ver 1.05). I installed Ubuntu after this problem occured, and Ubuntu runs without problems.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

That is impossible that both the oem M.2 SSD and the Samsung 990 Pro NVMe M.2 drives don't work and you are getting a BSOD blue screens only in windows OS, as the windows OS must have a faulty/corrupted IRST deliver for this to happen.

I suggest that you do a Clean Install of Win-11 24H2 and make sure that you install the N50-656 - 2024/06/20 - IRST (Intel® Rapid Storage Technology) Driver version 20.0.0.1037 through the Win-11 installation process @ > Where do you want to install Windows? > Load driver > then install the IRST driver, as this will fix this problem with this desktop.

If the desktop is still crashing, take/send the desktop to Acer Tech Support so that the Acer technicians can analyze and fix your desktop. Good luck.

Thank you, Steven. very enlightening for me. I extracted the IRST driver to the USB stick, and found the driver there to install . I really appreciate your advice!
