Why does my Predator Helios Neo 16 Display screen fade problem when not charging?

My laptop is predator helios neo 16(2023 model) rtx 4050.

When the battery charging is turned off, the display screen fades slowly. If charging is on again, this fade problem is fixed. Is this normal? Or any problem? How to solve this problem? Need to change any settings?

Hi, when you unplug the power adapter, Windows battery saver kicks-in and the system throttles power to the GPU trying to save battery power, this results in diminished system performance including the screen brightness. For this reason, you should leave the power adapter plugged-in 24/7 and keep the battery charged 100%.

Sometimes, the refresh rate on your laptop might be changed for some reason, leading to screen fading out or black when plugging or unplugging charger. In this case, increasing the refresh rate might help you out.

First uninstall all bloatware on your laptop like 3rd-party browsers, virus checkers and trial versions, open Task Manager-Processes and check how many background apps are running, should not be more than 70, get rid of the ones you are not using. Your power plan is probably Balanced (default) but you may have Power mode set to Best Power Efficiency with the battery saver enabled (see picture) change that to balanced or Best Performance. Like I stated above leave the adapter plugged-in 24/7 and make sure the battery is always 100% charged.

I completely agree with you — I'm using the exact same model (Predator Helios Neo 16), and I’m facing the exact same screen fade issue on battery mode. I've followed every single troubleshooting step recommended by Acer support — from BIOS updates to power settings tweaks — and nothing has resolved the issue. It’s extremely disappointing, especially from a brand that markets this series as high-performance. Clearly, this isn't an isolated incident but a deeper hardware or firmware flaw that Acer needs to acknowledge and fix immediately. We're not paying premium prices for half-baked functionality. It's time Acer takes this seriously and issues a real solution or official statement — not copy-paste support replies.

The Predator Helios Neo 16 screen fading when not charging could be due to several reasons, including battery health, display driver issues, or even hardware problems. If the battery is nearing the end of its life, it might not be able to supply enough power to maintain consistent brightness. Outdated or corrupt display drivers can also cause flickering or fading. Additionally, physical issues like a loose cable or a faulty screen itself could be the culprit.
    Here's a more detailed breakdown:

    1. Battery Health:
      Battery Degradation:
Over time, batteries lose their ability to hold a full charge and supply power consistently. This can manifest as a screen fading or dimming effect when the laptop is not connected to power, especially as the battery drains.
      Calibration:
A battery that's not properly calibrated can also cause inconsistent behavior. Try fully charging and then fully discharging the battery a few times to recalibrate it.
    2. Display Driver Issues:
Outdated Drivers: If your display drivers are outdated or incompatible with your operating system, they can cause various display problems, including fading or flickering.
Driver Corruption: Corrupted display drivers can also lead to similar issues.
    3. Hardware Problems:
Loose Cable Connections: A loose or damaged cable connecting the screen to the motherboard can cause intermittent display issues like fading or flickering.
Faulty Screen: The screen itself could have a hardware defect that causes it to fade or flicker.
Overheating: If the laptop overheats, it can also lead to display issues.
    4. Software Conflicts:
Software or Apps: Certain software or applications might interfere with the display and cause flickering or fading.
