Hi All,

I have a Nitro V with 10th gen i7, with upgraded 32GB ram and 2x 1TB WD SN850 M.2 SSD's (AN515-55 if i remember correctly)

A week ago, Windows auto-updated to 24H2 but failed, in the process killing my secondary SSD (completely dead, even in bios) - this is a known issue. the rollback also failed, and sfc /scannow shows that the Win11 install is apparently fine.

However, another issue i have encountered from this, is my laptop will now not boot with USB devices plugged in (2x USB 3.1, 1x USB-C) it will not even get to the acer splash screen. it will simply power on to a black screen and do nothing.

When i unplug all USB devices, it will boot just fine. i have tried booting with each individual USB device connected, and it fails every single time, so its not a connected device that is causing this.

Are there any possible BIOS fixes for this? or ways to troubleshoot exactly what is causing this issue?

    Uninstall the W11 upgrade

If that won't work, restore the system to before the upgrade (takes 5 minutes), type Restore in Search and click on "Create a restore point' and "System Restore" (see picture) and select a restore point before the W11 upgrade.

    Two things you should try:

System restore in Windows11 to an earlier point (when all USB ports were still OK). Type Create a Restore point in the Search box and click on System restore in the top of that window, select a date. If that did not fix the USB issue:

In Device Manager right-click USB Host Controller (and any duplicates) and select Uninstall

Reboot and if you don't see the USB Host Controller, click Scan for hardware changes on the toolbar.

If the above methods don't work, you may have a hardware issue, bring/send your laptop to Acer Services in your country to trouble shoot the USB ports.
