Bought this system new last November (Nov 2023)

Haven't had any issues with it, but the last few weeks I've noticed the Orange Battery Light remaining Static and not charging the battery like it used to.

The battery keeps draining, despite the fact that I never run the system unplugged from AC and the Battery Icon in the Taskbar shows the battery is being charged and reports the system as Plugged in.

Right now the Battery is at 87% with the Orange Light Steady/On and the Blue power light On; nothing is flashing and never has.

After reading a reply from Support Here: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/680779/predator-helios-300-ph315-54-not-charging-plugged-in-after

I purchased a new 230W AC Adapter from Amazon Here: https://a.co/d/65nysn9

The new adapter works fine, but my battery still isn't charging. The Orange Light is constantly on but the Battery isn't filling/increasing in charge. Little by little the battery is slowly draining.

I have also tried fixing the issue by Updating the Battery Drivers; Windows11 just installed the same old drivers from 2006 and this didn't help.

I then tried an Internal Battery Reset by pushing the Power Button as instructed here: https://community.acer.com/en/kb/articles/75-acer-internal-battery-reset

The Internal Battery Reset didn't work; unless I did it wrong, but I don't see how I could have. I was unsure as to whether the system needed to be On or Off, so I shut down the system and then did the Internal Reset.

I also looked for a Battery Pinhole so I could try to reset the battery that way, but couldn't find one.

So now, I'm wondering if there is anything else I should try to fix this issue. I'd really hate for the battery to drain to 0%.

Many Thanks in Advance :)

Hi LadyMiska, there are no reset pinholes in the Predator models, and you did right to turn off the power when you did that reset. Before bringing the laptop and the adapter to Acer Services in your country (recommended), create a Battery Report in Windows but first uninstall all the pre-installed programs like Acer Care Center and AcerSense and check in Windows Services that these programs are no longer running, if you see accSVC and/or AcerS agentSVC stop these services and disable in Properties Startup type, click on Apply. Reboot and check if you can charge to 100% now. After 1-2 hours paste this in the command prompt: powercfg /batteryreport and open the report with your Edge browser, right click on the opened report and select "Print to Microsoft PDF". Attach the PDF file to your reply and type @Puraw so I get an alert and will have a look at the report.

Hi LadyMiska, I looked at your battery report and Connected Standby is not supported (see red box)

So, the battery is either bad or the Smart chip has disabled the battery, you have 1 year warranty on the battery, so I recommend bringing the laptop to Acer Services in your country and ask for a new battery.

This is the correct battery for your laptop (same one you have):

You can send the laptop by DHL or raise an Acer repair ticket and wait for a reply from Acer Support.

    Hello, :)

Sorry for the delay in response; real life got in the way.

I removed the Acer programs (Care Center, Express VPN), but I did not remove Predator Sense because I use that daily and need it for fan control. I didn't think it could be related to the battery issue, so if you think I need to remove it, which I really don't care to do, I will do so

Slowly, but surely, the battery keeps trickling down in power while the Orange Light remains steady indicating it's charging; now at 84%.

I did create a Battery Report, I don't use Edge, but easily was able to Print to PDF in Firefox - see attached file.

Also, since I use HWiNFO to monitor temps, I was able to find that my battery is 'SMP AP18E7M', so I went looking around on Amazon to find an AP18E7M battery I could purchase for replacement. I am not able to take my system to Acer Services because the closest one to me is over an hour away and right now I don't have a car, so that doesn't help.

Anyway, I found several possible batteries I am looking at to replace the original battery, please let me know if these options would work for me:

    https://www.amazon.com/AP18E7M-Compatible-AN515-54-AN517-51-AN715-51/dp/B08NWZJX1P

    https://www.amazon.com/Anepoch-Replacement-AN515-54-AN517-51-AN715-51/dp/B098NXQYSQ

    Many Thanks :)

Can I please get a definitive answer on my post from 8-15?

I need to know if the battery options I'm looking at would work for my system if I can't get my current one to work again.

    Many Thanks :)

    @Puraw

I think I did something wrong by marking this as Answered when it wasn't; I'm new to this forum so I'm not sure how it works.

I'm still waiting for a reply to my 8-15-2024 reply.

I would really appreciated someone answering my questions.

    Thanks. :)
