No disk found during Windows 11 installation wizard on new Acer Swift 3 SF314-71 laptop

I just received my new laptop: Acer Swift 3 SF314-71
I made a new bootable stick with the latest official MediaCreationTool from Microsoft (MediaCreationTool_Win11_23H2.exe), inserted it into the laptop usb port, went to the laptop Bios settings (F2 during boot), changed the boot order from UEFI to the boot stick, saved the settings and restarted.
Then I try to go on with the install process but I cannot proceed past the screen which prompts me to choose a disk to install it on, because the list of drive options is empty.

  1. I seem to have the same problem encountered by another user with another laptop model on the following post back in 2019. However the problem for him was fixed by updating the media creation tool and recreating the boot drive, but I am already used the latest MediaCreationTool_Win11_23H2.exe

2. In this same thread, another person suggests that the problem is with the SSD drivers, and suggests downloading "Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver" onto a usb stick.
I noted that this driver is not listed on the drivers page of this laptop model ( https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/product-support/SF314-71/downloads ), but tried downloading it from de internet anyway and when selecting the Load Driver option and selecting the usb stick I get an error that "No Signed Device Drivers Were Found".

3. I also tried running some commands from the CLI on the windows boot stick during the install wizzard:
Chkdsk /f /r

outputs the following:

"The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.
Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected."

I also tried:

diskpart
list disk
And it outputs only the usb stick, not the ssd drive as expected.

I am completely lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your Swift 3 SF314-71 definitely has the IRST (Intel® Rapid Storage Technology) Driver version 19.2.0.1003 dated 2022/06/13 in its Acer support web page (you need to click on that page "LOAD MORE" to get the rest of the drivers😁) as then you will see and you can download the IRST driver, then put the unzipped folder of the IRST onto the Win-11-23H2 installation USB and then you should install the IRST at the Win-11-23H2 installation section Where do you want to install Windows? > Load driver as after you have instilled the IRST drive, your PCIe4x4 boot M.2 drive will be recognized 100% and you can continue the Win-11 installation until the end. Good luck.

Yes, this behavior is normal with pretty much all Intel based systems. Microsoft doesn't pay Intel for the ability to distribute the Rapid Storage Technologies drivers, so don't include them in the Windows distribution. If you were reinstalling with Acer's factory image the drivers would be included. Since you used the Media Creation Tool you don't have Acer's build, so the drivers need to be loaded manually.

Thanks for the answers. Indeed, on the laptop model drivers page, I did not notice that "LOAD MORE" option which displays all drivers. After adding the drivers on the windows installation boot stick, and providing them via the "Load driver" option, I managed to proceed with installation.
