is there any way to get updated SMBIOS for TC-1660 ?
I asked previously if there was any way to get updated ACPI bios firmware for my TC-1660.
but that thread has gone awol after getting swamp creatured and merged.
some renegade moderator merged my question with my previous one that got trolled.
anyway. my thinking was, after considerable study of its PCIe settings
the reason it doesn't support many PCIe cards in the x16 slot is due to bugs in its ACPI.
I just now discovered this TC-1660 SMBIOS indicates ACPI is not supported.
admittedly I'm learning as I go along
but this looks like this may likely be the source of the BIOS PCIe x16 bugs.
SMBIOS specs:
DTMF System Management BIOS specs download page
the snapshot below is from this TC-1660 SMBIOS.
it shows ACPI is not supported.
yikes.
by comparison, my Dell XPS tower does indicate ACPI support in its SMBIOS.
and the Dell does support all the PCIe cards this TC-1660 doesn't.
(more than a half dozen different PCIe cards)

Yes I've seen your two or three other posts on this subject, as you can appreciate Acer community is not Acer and we can't make Acer change anything, Acer officials do observe this community but in as far as technical issues are concerned, we have no bearings on adding and/or changing what Acer does. The TC-1660 desktop comes with the bios that Acer provides, if you want to modify its bios then its at your own risk and there is a good reason why the ACPI is not turned on within this desktop's bios.
Note: This is a basic guide of what needs to be done in a bios to alter the ACPI and what it stands for, btw, I take no responsibility for anything that might brick or ruin your desktop from this guide below!
ACPI stands for Advanced Configuration and Power Interface, and it is a standard for power management in computers. The ACPI BIOS is the part of the motherboard firmware that supports the ACPI functions. To reprogram the ACPI support in a desktop BIOS, you may need to do one or more of the following steps:
- Update the BIOS driver
- Update the BIOS itself
- Uninstall or reinstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Driver
- Set the ACPI mode to S1 or S3 in the BIOS settings
- Disable AHCI mode in the BIOS settings
- Use Startup Repair to fix any boot issues
- Change the OS image ID to match the ACPI version
Please note that these steps may vary depending on your motherboard model, BIOS version and operating system. You should always backup your data before making any changes to your BIOS settings. You should also consult your motherboard manual or manufacturer website for more detailed instructions.

You have posted many different threads on the same subject, and denigrate any answer you are given. I'm not going to bother to respond to any more of your posts. You really need to contact Acer if you have to get more detailed information than other users like myself can give. This forum is not a direct connection to Acer support, only to other Acer users.

I have no interest in your post as I am totally confused.
I was just pointing out ACER's support information.
