Hi I have a Model Name: E5-576G, Part Number: NX.GTSAA.005  purchased with Windows 10 but I have upgraded to Windows 11. Since the last Windows update in June my cpu is running close to 50% and my memory usage is over 50% +. I am considering increasing from 8 to 16 gig memory (would love suggestions) but I am concerned on the continuous increase in cpu and memory usage. Could someone suggest a process that might help this usage? Also, Google is the killer it seems on memory usage. Every time I bring up an instance of Google I get 12-33 in parenthesis. I am assuming this are background uses. Are these present bookmarks and other elements I have set up in Google? Thank you for your help and patience with a novice.

    Check your BIOS version: 2019/03/22 Version:1.49 Vendor:Acer is the latest. Your Aspire 15 model is not on the approved W11 list this means Acer does not provide drives or support your BIOS for Windows11. I suggest you either Reset this PC or Clean Install Windows 10

    About your RAM upgrade plan read this (I suggest a kit 2x8GB DDR4 1600 MHz, check Crucial)

    Just in addition and also consider, that the Aspire E5-576G, Part Number: NX.GTSAA.005 was an upper end spec of a laptop designed for an Intel 6th Gen cpu and not an 8th Gen cpu and to be compatible with Win-11, so you have to realise that the E5-576G is not an 8th Gen Intel Acer designed laptop per say, that is why you are having the problems that you are with Win-11 OS.

    Win-11 puts allot of strain on your cpu and memory, that is why Microsoft restricts the 8th Gen as the minimum cpu for the OS. I would increase the ram to at least 16 GB 2x 8GB DDR4-2400MHz preferably 32 GB 2x 16GB DDR4-2400MHz as listed by Acer for this laptop.

    8GB and 16GB DDR4-2400MHz modules suitable for this laptop upgrade

    Hello!!

    @Eastcoasthawg1

    It might be a different motherboard because you already have 8GB DDR3 module in your motherboard, so you can not upgrade with a DDR4 module because DDR3 and DDR4 slots are different because they both have different number of pins.

    you can upgrade up to 32GB (2xz16GB) with a DDR4 2133/2400 MHz modules, 8GB and 16GB DDR4-2400MHz modules suitable for this laptop upgrade

    Thank you all for your responses and expertise. I believe I will move to work on going back to W10 as suggested. In addition check for the Bios upgrade, which scares the hell out of me due to complete ruination of a former pc. But live and learn. I will look to utilize the information provided I am sure will be a great help. Finally, I will go ahead and add 8G DRAM or consider a new kit full of 16 G. I shall report back. Finally, I see folks here are credited with giving advice. Please let me know how I would properly do that or refer me to the rules of the board.

    Again, thanks to all!
