cooling issues In Acer Predator PO3-640
Tinkerer
hi all, I am new here and I bought the Acer Predator PO3-640 from like 4 months ago, The processor is the Intel core I7 12700 F with 32 GB ram and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU.
I found out that the cooling in this computer is not that much good, The CPU temperature in the idling state is going around 40 to 50, and sometimes ig gos above that, from like 50 to 60 and i am almost not doing anything, just speaking with my friends, and nothing is opened in the background to say that there is a high load on the CPU, no it's not, so i am thinking to replace the Cooler with a much better one, what do you all think? Does this case support liquid coolers? Or what do you recommend me to use? Thanks a lot.

Temperatures that you mention are perfect, If it gets after a couple of years to 95°C, under very heavy load, consider getting a good 5-fan cooling pad. Your CPU can sustain 100°C.😉

So it's ok? In gaming it gos to 90, and Also in audio editing programs it reached 99. That's why i'm asking.

First you wrote 50° to 60°C. and now you state 99° ? Which is it? no 99°C. is not OK. Bring the laptop immediately back to the retailer before you bust the CPU and tell them the cooling system is broken, may need a new fan and thermal paste, possibly that liquid cooler needs replaced if it has one.

There are many threads about upgrading CPU cooling on PO3s on this forum. Forum search should find them.
I'd forget liquid cooling and go for a conventional air cooler from a reputable brand such as Noctua.

let me clear some points here.
It's A Desktop not a Laptop.
and the first temperature results I wrote when the computer is in the idling state, the second ones I wrote when there is a heavy load, like gaming and editing music, I'm using high audio plugins so that makes a heavy load on the CPU, I hope it's clear now.0 -
A heavy load in the 85-90 range is OK, even with instantaneous peaks of 99. You can drop those by around 10-15C by installing the Noctua cooling setup that many people here are using though, and it's not a difficult mod. You do want to pickup four screws that are slightly longer than the ones that come in the kit so you don't have to pull the motherboard. 50-60C at idle is just about perfect and what the fan profiles are trying for… I'm running in the low to middle 50s right now.

Forum search gives few options. Since the bigger one seems to fit, I would choose that one.

Its the Noctua NH-U9Schromax_black fit the twin fan option for this CPU cooler as its allot better and more efficient in cooling.

Yeah, more expensive than what it goes for in the USA, but well worth it.
