Battery won't charge - Bios update? - Windows 10 Acer V3 771

Hi,

I replaced my broken Acer Aspire V3-771G motherboard with a secondhand Acer Aspire V3-771 (without the G) motherboard. I want to know if there is a Bios update available (or any other updates from Acer). The website, nor the customer service have this serial number registered. Maybe the secondhand motherboard was originally sold in Africa for all I know and I assume the serial number might not be registered in the belgian register..

I encounter some minor issues with the laptop battery also. It seems to stop charging at around 43%. I tried uninstalling the relevant adapters and rebooting with and without battery etc.. By now I would like to update the drivers. Preferably from the Acer website.

Anyone knows how to search the update database manually?Or who has some advice concerning the battery..

Thank you!

The battery charging issue is resolved by disabling the 2 drivers below preferably in Safe Mode with Device Manager, then reboot and Windows will reinstall the drivers.

The "G" behind an Acer model stands for graphics, did you leave out your GPU cards?

    Hello!!

    @RR789

Please check if you have already performed the below mentioned troubleshooting steps:

1)Press hold the power button for 10 seconds, disconnect the charger. Insert a paperclip into the hole and press for four seconds to reset the computer. it simulates removing and reinstalling the battery. Connect the charger and power On the device to check the issue.

2)Open device manager, expand the entry named Batteries by clicking on the side arrow associated with it. As next, right click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and click on the Uninstall option. click on the tab named Action and then to click on the option Scan for hardware changes. Restart the device and check the issue.

    Hi Puraw,

thank you for your advice. I rebooted my device in Safe Mode. I Uninstalled both drivers. I rebooted my computer originally. It hasn'tchanged. My battery remains at 43%, without noticable charging. I have tried various methods of this fix, but none have worked so far. Is there no way to replace the drivers manually?

I'm open to other ideas as well. Thanks again

PS: The original motherboard came with the GT 740M graphics card. It now has a GT 650M dedicated graphics card. That works just fine.

    Hi Luna,

Thank you for your reply also. Although:

    • If I were to push the powerbutton for 10 seconds, my laptop would perform a hard shutdown. Is that intended?
    • In what hole should the paperclip be inserted? I have never heard of this kind of solution for a laptop-issue..?

PS: the link you provided is a dead end. The 'reset battery' link on the page you refer to is dead. The support won't help for it asks for a serial number which is not recognised.

Is there no way to download the Drivers from the Acer website without providing a recognised serial number?

    Hi @RR789

These are Microsoft integrated (built-in) devices like your webcam they are installed by Windows OS not Acer or 3rd party vendors. Bios also controls power (POST) have you reset BIOS already to the factory setting, and saved the settings on exit?

If nothing help you should consider bringing/sending the laptop to Acer Services in your country.
