    The OP already checked MUC.

You don't have a consistent answer to give. You give an answer that even if you find a bios update on windows update, on optional update, on MUC..., you won't install it yourself anyway. So you are saying one thing to "help" people, but you don't "eat your own dog food".

My BIOS answers on many other threads on this forum has been very consistent. My answer has been Acer doesn't really explain what BIOS updates are for. Even when Acer explains it, 99% of the general population won't understand a CVE or Intel ME bios update is a security patch. Since many Meltdown/Spectre related security vulnerabilities can only be patched by BIOS, end-users should just assume every single BIOS update in the last 3 years are security updates.

If you are offered a BIOS update on optional updates that is older than you already have --- then just ignore it. You don't have to put a check mark on that particular optional update. A million times simpler than telling people to disable firmware update.

@Joe944OK my friend. I was reading the topic from the beginning again and really the user @PaulC1 did not find a more current version of the firmware driver.
Joe944 I agree with you about not updating the firmware driver, as it is not necessary. For PaulC1: However, to prevent windows update from updating the bios to a version later than 1.16, when it is available on the MUC, consider disabling the firmware driver. It is only a personal suggestion and not a rule. So, in order not to cause further confusion on the topic, I will stop responding now.

Again, you don't seem to even understand what I wrote.

I have NEVER said not to update BIOS. I have ALWAYS said to update BIOS because you have to assume that they are all security patches.

The OP never ask you for advice of whether to update to newer BIOS or not.

The worst thing is that you give contradictory advice to people than what you actually do personally. You attached a screenshot that clearly proved that you updated your bios to 5.23.1.31 via MUC personally. Yet you tell people not to update their bios/firmware, even telling people to disable firmware update. What? BIOS update is only good enough for you alone.

Give 1 straight answer that you yourself is comfortable of using.

Wrong! The bios of the model an515-54 was already in version 1.31, before updating the DRIVER FIRMWARE. Only the DRIVER FIRMWARE device driver has been updated. The bios has not been updated to version 1.31 by DRIVER FIRMWARE. In addition, I only advise updating the bios, when it is expressed in the changelog what that version of the bios will correct. I have also recommended several times that users update the bios, to correct a specific problem, just as you have done in some topics. But I always make it clear, that it is a risky procedure. I will stop responding now.

Except that Acer writes like 5 words in the bios change log in their website and 99% of the general population will not understand it.

Dell gives clear bios change log --- flagging it as urgent and telling you that it is a security update. In that case, the general population with Dell computers can skip BIOS updates that aren't security updates.

Unfortunately, the only valid advice for Acer computer users is to assume that every single bios update is a security update.

Now, I have to agree with you. I also think that Acer should better explain what a particular version of the bios will change on the computer and what the level of urgency would be. I even got in touch with the moderators, so they could check with acer engineers, about the possibility of providing clearer information, so that the majority of users (population as you mentioned) can know what that version of the bios will update. Yes, I also know that the latest versions of the bios only contain security updates, for most models that have been manufactured recently.
