Hello, my laptop is not turning on when just on battery. When I plug in the charger it goes to Acer screen and shuts down after couple of seconds. Also, when I leave it to charge it only shows the orange light no matter how long I leave it on. Is there something I can do to reset the battery or else, It is a non removable battery btw. Thank you.

The battery is replaceable but the bottom cover must be removed to access it. Try to generate a battery report first. Go to the elevated command prompt.  Enter 'powercfg /batteryreport'. Then return to the desktop. Open file explorer. Then search for' battery-report.html' in the c:\windows\system32\ sub-folder. Double-click to open it in the browser. Compare design full charge capacity with its remaining full charge capacity. Post screenshot of the first part of the report if possible. Jack E/NJ

I tried to do this but I keep on getting message "The Power Efficiency Diagnostic library (energy.dll) could not be loaded."

Open DeviceManager. Click 'batteries' folder. Right click and uninstall every driver you find in this folder. Exit DeviceManager without reinstalling anything. Shut down Windows normally. Turn machine back on and try running 'powercfg /batteryreport' again from the elevated command prompt. Jack E/NJ

Thank you for that but my laptop won't boot. I can get to recovery options and enter command prompt from there.

OK. Get to the command prompt. Enter 'diskpart'. At the DISKPART> prompt enter 'list volume'. Please post phoneshot of result if possible. Jack E/NJ

No. Something's wrong. You have two drives listed. Are you booting from an external drive? I can't tell which  volumes are on which drive. Please disconnect the small drive. Jack E/NJ

Was the small drive an m.2 card? If you don't know, please post  phoneshots of the BIOS Information and boot tabs. Jack E/NJ

Did you install the 1TB drive? Somehow the drive letters seem to have changed. Can you please post  phoneshots of the BIOS Information and Boot tabs anyway? Jack E/NJ

OK. Temporarily disconnect the 2.5" HDD. It probably still won't boot as the D drive but hopefully the X : command prompt will still be accessible. Then we need to look at what Diskpart says again. Jack E/NJ

That looks a lot better. The C : drive is now the system drive as it should. OK. Now exit the DISKPART> prompt and post a phoneshot of the command prompt. Is is still shown as the X : \ > command prompt? Jack E/NJ
