    I still think there may be a problem with the temperature sensor. However, try to perform the power reset:
    a) turn off the notebook, disconnect the power adapter and the lition battery;
    b) press the power button for 60 seconds;
    c) check if the problem occurs with the lithium battery disconnected.
    That were the first thing I ever did, but yes I can do it again :>
  • Have you ever tried to use undervolting to see if temperatures drop? I also think that the fact shows 145ºc, is wrong, because if it were really at that temperature, the processor would have already burned.

    Laptop were running high amount of CPU while the cooling paste was dry and it overheated for real (I think) 27/5 but then it started thinking it was overheating without actually overheating since then, for almost a month now.
  • Ideally, check the motherboard at a repair center.

    anything i can do myself? The laptop pretty old so I'd rather just put the Hard Drive into another motherboard and stuff
  • The problem is that the sensor is showing 145ºc. Can you confirm this information again on hwmonitor?

    it seems to get somewhat hot for real tho, why is that?
    what happens when a laptop overheats, the physical part?
    Something must've gone wrong, right? But what did?
  • Are you sure you applied the thermal paste correctly?

    JGTV Thats certainly something wrong with the temp sensor over 100 would just shutdown or burn the mobo i suggest you to clean it properly fans and exit aiflow check if the fan(s) are working properly most cases they end up by failing after a few years and will cause shutdown due to high temps and repaste it with kryonaut technically should solve your issues if its not anything worse good luck

    I had already cleaned it all and I'm 99% sure the fan is working as it should too (yes coolingpaste was replaced to a new and better as well), I've heard the thermistor could've been damaged by the actual overheat and now giving wrong output, how would I fix the thermistor though?
