    Hi batmalin,

We understand costumers wanting to unlocked the advanced BIOS option, we will provided this feedback to our product development team.

When we do have updates to the BIOS, it is posted at http://support.acer.com, however, we don’t have plans at this time to provide a BIOS with all features unlocked.

We appreciate you posting in our Acer Community.

    Regards,
    Acer-Karp.

Even if I sign up for giving up the remaining warranty? I am ready to sign, just let Acer know that I am ready to really own my laptop. There should be a secret key combination and I am redy to receive it for tradeing the remaining warranty.

Sad part is You guys are losing out on a TON, I mean a absolutely HUGE chunk of the market because of something as small as Having the BIOS locked down.

Simply put, Give us access to OUR Labtop's BIOS

CanadianWanabe so are you saying all other laptop manufacturers have unlocked bios :p  thats completely untrue all are locked every manufacturer has locked bios even on pre-built desktops the only that dont have locked bios are the custom builds

batmalin if you want to unlock your bios do it yourself outside this community at your own risk of bricking your mobo permanently if you read the ACUA you would know very well you are clearly breaching the community rules by insisting on this (clearly not allowed) topic and im reporting you for breaching the ACUA this community its not in any way a direct acer support channel and its mainly run by normal users like you and me that are here just voluntary we do not work for acer in any way and the acer staff will only intervene if really necessary as they are just here to maintain/manage the community not for direct support if you have any issues that cant be solved here contact support directly and opening a petition wont take you anywhere either acer its a independent company so any petition its useless towards any independent company but good luck anyway

Also the heating issues are easily fixable by optimizing your windows undervolting and if still needed repasting it with kryonaut or similar if you can yourself without voiding the warranty if not you can contact acer directly and arrange a repaste

Wow thanks for the nice words, what`s next? You will ban me and delete my account?

We don't have the ability to do that but the Acer moderators do. This Forum has one primary purpose and that is to have a venue where users can help users in a constructive manner. It is not a venue to whip up anti Acer sentiment by introducing a frivolous petition, which incidentally has garnered no support. We are here to help solve user problems. Initially you made a good point about the BIOS and I'm sure there are others that feel the same but once the point has been made it should be put to bed and not turned into an obsessive crusade against Acer. I did a Google search on the subject and found that most manufacturers of low to medium end laptops have the BIOS locked and only some high end machines have the BIOS unlocked. Apparently according to a Toms Hardware article, the return rate under warranty for unlocked machines is far higher than locked machines because many users have no idea what they are doing when they start playing around in the BIOS and that is a really good reason for a manufacturer to keep it locked. The option of forgoing your warranty isn't practical and would be a legal nightmare and exists nowhere in the industry.
You obviously have great computer knowledge and it would be awesome if you contributed by helping solve user problems using what we have rather than what you want

Last argument from my end about this topic, locked BIOS - maybe, but only for options that are dangerous to mess with when no knowledge. Look at the post of your colleague -   https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/comment/768179/#Comment_768179
There are many examples what kind and how many settings other brands offer.
