E5-576G-5762 never ever received a Acer Update since purchase

My Acer E5-576G-5762  never ever received a  single Acer Update since purchase using the Acer Care Center, been over a year, why so? Purchased in US and using in India region settings. Can you guys advise if Acer updates received for this particular model specifically using Acer Care Center software? The said software is the updated version too in itself.

    acer care centre is not effective. check for updates directly from the acer support site by putting in your snid or serial number.

    acer care centre is not effective. check for updates directly from the acer support site by putting in your snid or serial number.
    Page is static since ages. No updates as all.

    Revisiting quite late though the original post issue still persists as on date. Regarding problem, I am facing constant force close of my system for no reason without any overheating or powerplan wrong settings - Event id 41, Task category 63 Kernel Power - critical error message in the event viewer "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
    However my system does not re-boot but shuts cold turkey. Upon re-starting within seconds pressing power button it starts and runs fine for say 45 minutes then intermittent issue like this couple of times or none whatsoever, it's random.     Please don't post multiple posts on the same issue. This is NOT a BIOS firmware problem. It sounds more like the spring-loaded safety interlock switch or the battery reset switch are being physically triggered due to a misaligned or loose case cover or loose screws. These spring loaded switches are usually located near the RAM sockets on mainboards and/or below the base cover  pinhole. Jack E/NJ

    @JackE I am not clear why you say multiple posts on same issue? This post is clearly and specifically regarding not ever getting a update via the Acer Care Center. In your earlier reply way back, you had no issue on this post, I am unsure why now? I have no issues about Bios/Firmware as you mentioned and I am also unclear on your subsequent suggestion as to which question it's addressing as cannot relate it against this post. I ended up quoting a issue I am facing in here as because in your earlier reply i/o giving a direct suggestion, I believe you wanted to know why I expect a update in the first place as per the original post in here. Thanks.

    Please stay on this thread. I'm really referring to any update, not just BIOS firmware, in this thread only. I suggest that you remove the bottom cover and check for the spring loaded switches near the RAM sockets. The safety interlock must be firmly depressed by the cover when the machine is properly assembled, or it has a tendency to randomly and suddenly cut all power to the mainboard when the laptop physically disturbed like when using the keyboard or touchpad.     @JackE since the secondary issue was asked to be posted in here in terms of why I am even looking for an update, I thank you for your useful input regarding the same and will check. Regarding this original post, it would be interesting to know if anyone ever received any update via the Acer Care Center. Thanks

    Yes, and that's what got me puzzled that almost 2 years finished since purchase and not a single update via the Acer Care Center app. Of course it's not mandatory but at least expected now that so much time passed. Regarding the version it's another strange case, installed version is 4.00.3012.0 and I checked for latest version download on the Acer download Site and surprisingly it is 4.00.3002 (a lower version number). Recently I face a issue where my installed version when clicked would just have the splash screen come on and not proceed beyond it despite reboot.

    Acer updates are usually issued only for fixing device driver or serious firmware issues in some machines. If  a particular machine doesn't seem to exhibit any issues, then updates should NOT be routinely applied just because they're called updates. As noted earlier, I think the random shutdown issue described is a hardware issue. Jack E/NJ

    Yes, that is understood. I was thinking more in lines with the new  Win DCH drivers from Intel as because as part of this question also pertains to the fact that I have faced display issues as well in terms of  facing appearance of a vivid square box with pillars on the sides and I was shocked as my system did not suffer any physical drops or knocks. Also the secondlife software used to cause solarization kind of photo effect on the display when used it at times. I uninstalled the secondlife software so that particular issue disappeared and so did that  pillarbox issue separately, so the machine does display critical display issue but something which is not pertinent as well strangely. The Acer Care Center lower version matter stated above too is a odd thing as I see it.

    Regarding the random snap shutdown issue, as acknowledged, will surely check and report back soon in here.

    In situations like this, usually due to rapidfire major Win10 updates,  I often use DriverBooster or similar freeware driver tools rather than experiment with generic mfr driver updates. These tools seem to be better than  I am in trying to manually pick &  choose the generic update that supposed to work, but often doesn't, with the mfr's generic device that's embedded in the ACER proprietary mainboard.

    Agreed. But we've seen this before with apps like PredatorSense where the latest version posted on the ACER download site seems older than the actual version on some but not all users' machines with similar mfg dates. And we haven't been able to figure out how they got there or where to get them. I think one explanation may be that the ACER download site, with literally thousands of different modes, is probably woefully behind with anything but the most critical updates that seem to affect large numbers of the most popular models

    I hope Acer is reviewing this post about the Acer Care Center thing. 

    Thanks for advising about Driver Booster and it shows me 20 updates are required, confused as because some show the current version year as 1968 (attached screenshot). I am always more uptight about installing non official means that is anything besides i.e Win update, Acer device scan applet and which then shows the particular updates for the specific machine on the web and the Acer Care Center (which never showed any update ever) as this is my daily use one and only machine. I normally like updates as one they address bugs if any, provide enhanced performance and also security up to date.

    This is what the display looked like with the above issue, regretfully I do not have any pic to provide for the vivid square box with the two pillars at the borders to show. Seemed more like a physical display defect, it did not go away after reboot too but strangely it didn't re-appear. after re-staring after few hours. I couldn't check to see if it would be visible on the bios screen as well.

    What do you mean you're uneasy about installing non official (i.e. Acer supplied) updates when you've been installing NVIDIA updates through GeForce Experience? Out of all of the things OEMs like Acer can tweak hardware wise graphics and audio cards are the ones that get the attention. Anything else is pretty much if not all the way vanilla, some even use reference designs verbatim for the board itself.

    Anyway, the ones that show 1968 aren't really drivers... per se, they're just to take away the yellow triangles off of the Device Manager, but there's really no code in them. It's only an INF file and the accompanying catalog, that's it. The date was chosen by Intel as an inside joke hehe, but yeah, you can skip those.

    As for installing things off of DriverBooster and the like... careful, I'll try to find another comment I wrote not long ago about it in case it's useful for you; but either way the worst that could happen is for you to have to boot into safe mode and remove that driver. Which for graphic drivers DDU is pretty much my go-to tool, for the rest it depends, sometimes it has to be done by hand (or disabled via Autoruns from a live environment for example for the machine to boot.

    Well... the really worst case would be to have to reinstall Windows, but things have to be really bad for that to be the recommended option. Still, it's always nice to have recovery media at hand just in case, you could create one from Windows itself before updating anything. Search for "Create a recovery drive" in Start for example to get to that utility.

    Thanks for your inputs @aphanic , it's a long read which begets careful review, re-search and trial which will do. Helps tremendously as a resources list to add to. Yeah regarding the Nvidia, I missed to mention and I don't recall how I ended up using the Ge-force experience to update drivers for the MX-150 but still since it's official Nvidia, a bit comfortable. I will check on steps you mentioned.

    They also sometimes come with side effects and new bugs worse than the addressed bug. Not a real problem with device driver updates since they're usually easily reversible.   Firmware updates are another matter, not easily reversible and have a relatively high risk of turning your system into a brick. Don't try to fix things that don't seem to be busted. Jack E/NJ
