Newly Bought Predator Helios 300 High CPU Temperature and Poping/Cracking Noise

Hi,

I bought an Acer Predator Helios 300 PH317-52 which was manufactured on 11/21/2018 on 09/31/2019 and already got 2 big problems. My CPU temperature is too high. Throttle gets turned on too much when playing games and this causes sudden FPS drops. CoolBoost is always ON and I have set the CPU voltage offset to -0.110v. Undervolting did not change anything and I found out setting minimum and maximum processor states to 99% solved but lowering performance gives low FPS during the game e.g I get 180+ FPS when states are 100% and 75-86 FPS when states are 99%.

For the high temperature, I tried suggestions regarding CPU and temperature except for re-pasting from https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/535036/faq-cpu-gpu-temps-fps-settings-amp-other-info#latest

For the speaker problem, I tried suggestions from https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/547568/dolby-audio-problem-popping-crackling-noise-acer-predator-helios-300-july-2018 and none of them solved.

Why does a new laptop have these problems? Are these common problems? How can I fix them? What makes a big difference when setting maximum and minimum processor states from 100% to 99%?

Clemencia for the crackling noise it seems to be a common issue i had the same out of the box its a driver issue i suggest you to completely remove it and reinstall it use the acer stock (worked fine for me) if the issue persists search for another driver for it regarding the temps its also normal on gaming laptops use TS to undervolt instead of xtu if you arent using it already and take a look here if after optimizing windows and undervolt you still have temp issues the only solution its to repaste either yourself with kryonaut or similar if you dont have any warranty seals or acer service center if you have seals if you set the processor state to 99 you are disabling the turbo boost you are killing the beast whoever told you that was a fix doesnt know anything about it and for those who do that my suggestion is dont buy a gaming laptop buy a normal laptop instead because thats what it becomes after disabling the turbo boost

Oh I didn't know it was killing turbo boost. I will no longer set it to 99%.

Thank you for the link. I found that last night and installed. I will try it today. I think it is a "run and forget" application which does not require any additional configuration, does it? I will just run it and that's it. If the high temp still persists after trying TS, I'll try to re-past myself as the last option.

Yes ts it's run and forget you can also create a task in the scheduler to start it on startup 😊

Is there a tutorial about how to completely uninstall the sound driver? I uninstalled it from Device Manager by right-clicking High Definition Audio Device > Uninstall device. But the driver gets installed automatically in a few seconds... I couldn't manage to uninstall it completely.

Update:
I managed to fix the sound issue. I downgraded the version. I still hear the cracking sound but so rarely.
I tried TS from the link you provided. I played R6 for 4 hours and after 4 hours, I got FPS dropped to 25-27 twice due to CPU throttle.

Clemencia if you still got throttle after undervolted as i said above you need a repaste but 4h without throttling it has improved a lot you could also use youruninstaller or similar to uninstall any software completely to make sure all old registry keys and folder/files are removed to not conflict with a new install
