Hi, i really want to upgrade my pc because of lag in some games. I thought of upgrading to the ryzen 5 2600 and 2x8gb ram but even if i update my bios to the latest version will my motherboard support the 2nd gen ryzen and what is the max ram speed it can handle?

When gaming the GPU does most of the work not the CPU so leave the Ryzen alone and upgrade to a better GPU that way you don't need to worry about Motherboard conflicts. You will probably get a lot of improvement by just upgrading your RAM to a pair of 8gb 2400 mhz dual channel or a single 16 gb, if you already have 8gb and just want an 8gb single then this RAM will be compatible with your existing stick. Your board will only support 2400 even if your existing stock RAM is 2666. Exact guaranteed compatible RAM is in the link below, click View More right below the first couple of RAM sticks

you know 1070 is a great gpu but r5 1400 is not so great and i play games with very low graphics that need more cpu than gpu so i think upgrading the cpu would help more

@kake52 I see your point. I have the Rysen 5 2600 as well and all my demanding games run great but I have 16gb of RAM. So I would upgrade your RAM first and only look at the processor if that doesn't work

I found the topic below by searching forum.   "GX-281 cpu"

    https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/551822/gx-281-max-ryzen-cpu-supported

Also, Acer has a chart on how to install RAM in GX-281.  The diagram shows which dimm slot is which.
If you're wondering why I blacked out some of the diagram, it's because there was a typo in the SG.

I don't see anyone who has had the courage to try to install 1800 since Acer only lists 1700x as max.
