    The drive has likely failed. You can either replace it with a new DVD drive or install a HDD caddy. Jack E/NJ

    if i have the same model then i would be happy but if i dont then, i guess i'll have to check the pins again :/

    You don't need the exact same model DVD. Laptop DVD drives and caddys are nearly the same for most brands. The connector pins are the same. What are you worried about? Jack E/NJ

    If you want the exact same drive that's imprinted on the label, then google its part number on the label for replacement vendors. Or google the ACER part number "NSM8XS9.0"  that is applicable to your model.  Jack E/NJ
