Hi,

My laptop's the base model, with GTX2060, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD. Have been loving it for the size and portability. However, after a recent wave of updates from Microsoft, the Killer Wireless AC-1550i (9560NGW) suddenly stopped working. It is not showing up in the Control Panel / Network Adapters, but only showing up in Device Manager with a Code 10 error (Device Cannot Start). Looking through the Event Viewer, there are numerous errors, as pasted below

Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A370&SUBSYS_15521A56&REV_10\3&11583659&0&A3 had a problem starting.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall drivers, from the ACER support page and also from Killer Wireless website. Have even followed numerous instructions from the Killer Knowledge Base. All to no avail..

I tried to do a roll back, to uninstall the windows updates, but it could not work.

I then tried to reset the laptop using the recover disk, but the issue still remains.

I am starting to think that it is a hardware problem. What do you guys think??

Thanks in advance!!

Jeff

@hellojeffo i would uninstall the wifi adapter driver completely (tick the remove when uninstalling) and install the one from acer support to see if it fixes it win 10 updates most if the times the only screw up even more this is why i advise to disable them completely and update drivers manually only when u need to

Also having the exact same problem on my PH-315-52 (1660Ti Helios 300), and it's incredibly frustrating!

The first time round, installing new drivers worked. Yesterday, I needed to reset my PC. I'm in the middle of trying to study for exams, and I need wifi to do that. Did anyone else manage to fix this? If so, how??

UPDATE: Yesterday, my PC didn't manage to reset itself. It failed, and then entered a BSoD bootloop. Fortunately, a couple kind souls in my university's IT department were able to make me a Win 10 installation media, which then fixed the issue. FOR A DAY.

I did several restarts in the process of reinstalling all my hardware, and also put my computer in sleep mode when I switched study locations several times.

I left it off overnight again, confident the issue was finally solved (having made sure to uncheck the power saving box on the network card), and when I booted it up this morning, it was throwing code 10 again. No connection. Having finished my exams, I had time to jump down a rabbit hole, which I have spent the past 3+ hours doing.

I checked the physical card and reseated it, as well as unplugging the battery for ~30 seconds and reassembled. No change.

I'm severely doubtful that it *isn't* a stupid software issue, considering the number of software fixes that worked (albeit temporarily), and the proper function of the WiFi when the software didn't bork it.

Looking into event viewer, when attempting different driver installations, I found a couple of different error codes/problems.

UPDATE 2: Realized I had an Intel AC-7260 in my old laptop, so I popped that sucker on in, had windows download the drivers for it, and guess what? CODE 10. It's not the Killer Chip, it's something in Windows or the other parts of my PC. So that's just wonderful.

DJBiscuit you should had created an acer recovery usb drive for safe keeping and then reset it to stock via recovery ALT+F10 the instruction are here the issue you face now its if you dindt created a recovery usb when you installed windows vanilla via usb drive you lost the acer custom flavored windows because you recovery partition was formatted and no way to go back now you cant recover it to stock anymore unless you live in the US/CA acer have the recovery drives available to buy but not outside they dont ship internationally

Note how I said I first installed new drivers, then reset windows, twice. *ONLY* when the OS suddenly became unrecoverable midway through the second reset did I do a fresh install, as it was either that or a BSoD loop.

Regardless, the issue existed long before I reset my computer. Returning it to the original acer flavored windows would have provided no extra assistance beyond reinstalling the factory bloatware, and still likely leaving me with no working Wi-Fi.

I was making do with ethernet while I tried to find enough of a lull in my work to be able to send my laptop in for the RMA process. However, before I sent it in recently, I decided to check for a updated driver, as the issue was *clearly* linked in some manner to windows/driver shenanigans. A clean install of the latest driver package fixed the issue for me, for whatever reasons.

Now my fresh install is working just fine, and all the components are chugging along how they should. I even reinstalled predatorsense, so I'm still getting the CPU undervolt found in the stock Acer flavored OS

DJBiscuit well thats great you got it sorted without having to send it in and the undervolt values are setup in the bios by default so they wouldnt change anyway even with a fresh windows copy they will only change if you wish to undervolt it even more with TS you can check here if your interested in doing so :)

Even if you clean install with generic Windows 10 ISO, all Acer stuffs work. I did mine in August, 2019. Every Acer app works. In Acer flavoured one, I had constant BSODs out of nowhere. Haven't had a single BSOD since August.
Trying to do my best here - Your happy Predator owner =)!
