Hi i have a problem with my new Helios 500 (Predator PH517-51). When i put new m.2 ssd to slot 2 system and Bios doesn't see it. If i swap them around its sees new drive(512gb) in slot 1 but doesn't see old(256gb) in slot 2. I've already switched to AHCI and installed fresh windows but still no luck. Any ideas ??. Thanks

Just an update. Got samsung evo 970 NVMe and placed it in hdd slot 2 and worked. So HDD 2 works only with NVMe drives and doesn't support m.2 ssd drives .

Hi what is the brand of the new ssd you are trying to install i noticed you said tried both ssds the new and the factory one on slot 2 and none was recognized have u tried a bios update (if available) and also maybe a battery pinhole power drain reset by pressing it for 30s and let it rest for 10 mnts or so then boot into bios and reset defaults just a thought might work and might not you have also the option of disconnecting the cmos battery and boot into bios reset defaults and shutdown reconnect the cmos and repeat process to see if that helps if none of these help i would lastly try a normal m.2 sata ssd (2 lanes non nvme) if you have any available just to test the port if it would recognize it it would mean the port is sata only (sometimes it might happen 2 lanes sata will work on 4 lanes nvme port but 4 lanes nvme will not work on 2 lanes sata port) and lastly if nothing works i would probably say you have a faulty pcie port anyway with all this i am just trying to eliminate all possibilities :)

New ssd is Toshiba THNSNJ512GDNU. Both drives are m.2 sata (not nvme). I'll try BIOS reset and will let you know. Don't think that port is faulty as funny thing happened when i did clean windows install on new drive after windows was set up I turned laptop off, installed factory m.2 ssd to HDD02 slot and turned it on windows started installing pci drivers think its was sata pci controller or something like that but still no visible drive (on Windows and Bios).
