Yes, but his machine is bricked and can't execute the EXE file. He needs to try the FN+ESC crisis stick recovery method. Can you supply him with the FD file? Jack E/NJ

I even explained how to use the crisis disk feature through the command fn + esc! However I still have not received an answer if it has already downloaded the file!

    Dear @egydiocoelho and @JackE,

I am sorry to bother you, but I run into your comments about this post and I believe you are the right people to ask for suppot.

I was restoring my sister's notebook yesterday (Acer Aspire E 15 E5-553) using the appropriate Windows 10 procedure and recovery iso provided by ACER with the laptop. Everything went fine for the restoration, but while I was updating Windows with the official upgrade something must be happened. I left the PC working on the updates, but when I threw an eye on what it was doing I saw the black screen. Nothing scared me since I thought it was just the screen off while the PC was updating, but after a while when I tried to awake the screen I discovered that something was bad.

So for my first time I read about this BSOD problem that some Laptops are affected with.

My sister's laptop should still have two months of warrenty, so I am very doubtufl to try to make some tricky hardware procedere, but I was wondering if it could make sense to give a try to make a firmware recovery. The sequence [FN] + [ESC] should work here I guess as well. The problem is the BIOS.

I followed your guide @egydiocoelho and I was able to get list of file (more or less the same, probably few less) by unzipping the official ACER 1.19 BIOS version of my model. There is this ZABA.fd file. What it is not clear to me are the following issues:
    1. I cannot remove the battery, since it is an embedded version, but I did use the battery reset button for a HW reset.
    2. I can use a 4GB formatted FAT32 USB? Shall I have to set some partition bootable or whatever?
    3. In the USB shall I have to copy all the files in that uncompressed directory like in your post, where there is also the ZABA.fd
I would very much appreciate some support cause if you read 10 posts you read 10 different versions for a solutions.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mauri

jokeythThe USB stick should MBR-partitioned FAT31-formatted and the ZABA.fd file should be the only file in its root directory. Insert the stick, press and hold the FN+ESC key, then turn the machine on. Don't let go of the FN+ESC key till you see USB led activity. Jack E/NJ

  • The colleague JackE is correct when he states that the pendrive must be formatted in fat32 and converted to mbr! Just complement his response, use these commands to format and convert the pendrive:

Then just copy the file ZABA.fd to the root of the pendrive! However I consider it necessary to check if the image is displayed on an external monitor, as the bios crisis recovery procedure is an extremely risky procedure!

I have the same model e5 553 1786 with 1.31, virtualization enabled, installed 240 gb ssd + 1tb caddy and everything works fine, if you have problems with hibernation or sleep, reset the bios setings and power plans on windows to default.

Hola, como pudiste activar la virtualizacion y tener los 15.5 gb tengo 7.46 disponibles.. ya intenté de todo :c
