I'll ***guess*** if it was sold as a gamer, it might've been packaged with the higher power unit. The specs are like "either/or". Jack E/NJ

    I see...

BTW, I'm in contact with acer to see if I can get any of the part numbers you give me, seems they have this one: KP.06501.017. They tell me this one replaces the other ones. Will this work for this laptop?

    Thanks a bunch!

It's like 27 USD (500 MXN) And I called the sells department of Acer, at least the one in Mexico because we have no online store (laaaame) XD

Will that part number work as well? They say it will because no charger has the same exact part number, but I wanna be sure

EDIT: I got the part number wrong, its KP.06503.017

It's probably OK if 65-watts but not 100% sure. Jack E/NJ

    Hi again!

Well, if my calculations are right, there have been 5 weeks without a reboot, I don't know if I solved it or not, or if either opening the laptop, cleaning and tightening screws did it, returning to build 15063.994, downgrading to BIOS 1.19... or all of that, whichever, seems the laptop is running normal, I don't take my victory as granted, but 5 weeks without a reboot is something.

I write again because I'm looking to also have a backup battery in case the one I have dies. Its on 32% wear level, I feel that a bit excessive taking in mind I'm always on the AC, but whatever, probably is the constant fight if trying to charge and the discharge rate whenever I do extensive stuff...

But the point is, I got this part number so far:
    AS16A5K, it's a 4 cell battery of 16v.

Will I be able to find this part number? Which will be the replacements parts for this one just in case?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cya!

I have an E5-553-1986 latest bios 1.31 has slowed my machine to a crawl. I even tried reinstalling Windows and no improvement. Can I just re-flash the bios with 1.19 ? Should have stuck to the if it ain't broke don't fix it motto.
  • The bios downgrade is only recommended when a newer version has many problems! This procedure is very risky and not recommended!

Was v1.19 on your machine or was it an earlier version when you tried to fix it? Jack E/NJ

1.19 was on my machine. The update actually showed up in the windows update.

If the v1.31 is bad enough, I suggest downloading and running the v1.19 update. You should get a failure notice because it's an earlier version than v1.31. BUT DON'T CLOSE THE V.119 INSTALLER OR ITS FAILURE TO INSTALL NOTICE. Then follow the directions in the link below to try to install it. Jack E/NJ

Hi all, this thread my be dead but I am having the same problem and need to downgrade my bios (as my computer is a complete brick right now) however I dont have another windows computer to get to the correct .fd file.

can one of you please send me a link to a .fd file of version 1.09?

@PREZ The ZABA_xxx.FD file that you're looking for is unfortunately embedded in the ACER zipfile Windows ZABA_xxx.EXE executables. You seem to have 4 options. (1) Advanced google search for a ZABA".FD . ROM or .BIN file (2) Send PMs to the other E5-553 users in this thread to ask if they're be willing to run the executable of an earlier firmware version on their own machines to see if they can extract the ZABA FD, BIN or ROM file from their temporary user directory. (3) Remove the CMOS coin cell from the mainboard and short out its mainboard terminals to try to discharge and reset to BIOS chip to a default state. (4) An ACER out-of-warranty service request which probably would cost $100 minimum for a BIOS re-set. Jack E/NJ

  • Dear @JackE! The bios file itself, while executing it, already supplies the .fd file!
