I bought a used Acer Aspire One D257 on eBay.
I just got it today.

I plug the netbook into electrical outlet.
I push the Power button.
I immediately start tapping F2 key quickly multiple times.
I cannot get into the BIOS.

I see Acer logo.
I then see the Microsoft Windows 10 logo.

I have tried this multiple times.
I have Dell and Lenovo laptops, and I know how to get into BIOS with them.

What am I doing wrong?

Is there some sort of trick?

This makes no sense.

    Hi,

What you are doing is correct. As soon as you turn on the unit and as soon as you see acer logo->you need to tap the F2 to get into the bios for a laptop. Try to do a power drain https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/34843/~/acer-internal-battery-reset . and then do the steps to go to Bios. Good Luck.

    Found the answer.

    1.  Power on and hold power button until the netbook shuts down.
    2.  Power on again, and quickly tap F2 key a few times.

For some reason, F12 menu was disabled in the BIOS.

The netbook originally came with Windows 7 Starter.

The seller upgraded to Windows 10.

I am guessing the upgrade to Windows 10 changed something.

I wanted to update about the BIOS and F2 key situation.

I managed to recover this used netbook to Windows 7 Starter.
As I wrote before the previous owner had upgraded it to Windows 10.

Sure enough, the option to get into BIOS with F2 once again shows up when the Acer logo appears.

    WIndows 10 disabled it.
I guess Microsoft wanted you to change the BIOS/UEFI from within Windows.

If you can't get into Windows 10 like I did because the previous owner did not give me the password until later in the evening, I had to do the two step process with the power key.

    I hope this helps others.
