I would like to upgrade the video card in my ACER Aspire TC-705...  Let me provide a disclaimer - I am not a tech guy...

My objective is to be able to support 3 monitors to extend my display.  I presently have 3 hooked up (1 using the VGA output, 1 using a USB adaptor - both of which work fine, and a 3rd using the HDMI output - this one either provides a compressed display or I have to "stretch" the image using the monitor settings which distorts it).

I purchased an NVIDEA GE Force GT710, but it will not fit on the board due to a small plug that is in the way on the motherboard.  Can you recommend a card that would fit on this motherboard that would accomplish what I am after?

    Check out the link below:

I have basically the same computer as you.  Your question is complicated so I'm going to have to give you a complicated answer.

I will share with you what I did as far as graphics cards to use for my monitors just for an example.  Everyone has different monitors so my solution may not work for you depending on your monitors.

    1. I added the card in link below.  It is 6.7 inches long.  I would say the max length of card that will fit is 6.8 inches, otherwise you'll need a low profile USB 3.0 cable like in link below.  This low profile, flexible USB cable fits on your mainboard so you can use a longer graphics card (so the stiff Acer cable doesn't get in the way).

    2. I added a standard ATX 450 watt power supply since my existing 300 watt power supply that was in it was not adequate for my new graphics card.  Some graphics cards will work fine your existing power supply.  You have to look at the graphic card specs.

    3. My Monitors:

Monitor 1: Has a display port input.  It just so happens that my graphics card has a display port output.

Monitor 2: Has an HDMI input.  It just so happens that my graphics card has an HDMI port output.

Monitor3:  Has both a VGA and DVI-I input. It just so happens that my graphics card has a DVI-I port output.  However my graphics card did come with a DVI to VGA adapter so I could have used the adapter if I had a monitor that only supported VGA.

Important Note:  I don't really know much about AMD cards.  The new Nvidia graphics cards like GTX 1050, GTX 1060, GTX 1070 no longer support analog VGA monitors (so even with aforementioned adapter, it won't work)  So if you have a monitor that only does analog, you'd have to get a new monitor that supports digital....or don't purchase any of the new Nvidia 10XX cards.  This complicates matters because some of the best budget cards out there are GTX1050.

If you can find an older GTX 750ti that will work with your monitors , that might be good choice.....assuming you're not wanting to play the latest games.

You could also ask them in the GeForce forum, but you're going to have to give detailed info about your monitors and its video inputs if you want someone to recommend a specific card.

The link below will help give you a general idea of what people with TC-705 are using as far graphics cards (GPU) go.

    This should be good:
    MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2048MB DDR5 128-bit PCI-E Dual Link DVI-D HDMI enabled
Minimum power requirement of 300 W
I mounted the gtx 1050 oc but had to replace the power supply on the faster one.
